Even a single dollar adds up.

This boy scared us this morning. 🫣
We got this little guy about a week ago, no issues, just tiny and found alone. A few days ago we noticed his eye was irritated, started some eye meds. The next day he had some drainage from his nose, started antibiotics. Yesterday he seemed a little weak, slightly dehydrated, so we gave him fluids and more meds.
Brandy is his foster mom. She woke up early this morning to check on him, said she just had a feeling. She found him on his side non-responsive.
She immediately got to work, warming him, stimulating him, putting corn syrup on his gums and rushed him to me. I couldn’t find a heart beat, he was barely breathing and he had no corneal reflex (lights on but no one is home).
We did fluids, injectable meds, put him on a heating pad and held our breath.
An hour later he was walking around, wondering why his last nap was so rough. 😮‍💨
This post isn’t for a pat on the back. We did what we always do; what we’ve had to do for a hundred others. Babies go downhill fast and we have to be prepared.
We are running out of fluids. We are on our last bottle of antibiotics. We need nutri-cal. We can’t do what we did this morning without supplies. Our donations came to a halt about a month ago and we have burned through most of our food and litter. We want to keep going guys but we need help. I know this economy is tough. Every little bit helps. If you can’t donate, please share.
*** this boy needs a name, please comment your suggestion to keep the views up.

Mouser here to tell you that we will be opening late today due to staff shortage.
We should be opening by Noon today!! We apologize for the inconvenience!!

Our cat lounge operates on volunteers or the employees from Something Sweet. When we are short staffed or do not have volunteers, we cannot be open.

We are currently looking for a volunteer that can come every Friday from 9am-Noon. This is not a paid position as we are in rescue and do not have funds. But it is 3 hours of fun with cats. Well it also involves cleaning (vacuuming, sweeping, wiping cat hair off the furniture and scooping litter boxes) But, it is still 3 hours of fun with cats. If you are available every Friday and would like to volunteer, please send us a message 🐾♥️🐾

Y’all!! Meet Edmund. He has been with us since he was about 6 weeks old. He will be 2 next April.
For a while he lived at the cat lounge. He was sweet and cuddly, loved to play. But then we started noticing that he was grooming properly, he was losing weight and becoming quite grumpy. After a visit to the vet, he was diagnosed with stomatitis. He was very young to receive that diagnosis. It is a gum disease which was causing him a lot of pain in his mouth. Hence the not grooming and weight loss due to not eating.
I brought him home with me to recover and start researching. It had been recommended that he have his teeth extracted. Because the is so young, I don’t want to put him through that. And for the ones that have followed us a while, we lost Silence due to the same diagnosis during her teeth extraction procedure. Losing her, broke my heart and I just couldn’t think about putting Edmund through the same thing. So I started researching and found a pharmacy that was compounding medicine to help the symptoms and/or possibly cure the disease. We decided to do the trial run.
Edmund has been in the medicine for 2 months and went for his checkup yesterday.
We received good and bad news. 1st, he has gained 3 pounds 🎉 2nd, his gums look a lot better and the front teeth between his canines look great. Now for the bad news- his back teeth have resorptive lesions. The vet explained it like cavities on steroids. Several of his teeth have roots showing and basically just holes in them. Sooooo, unfortunately he is still going to need some extractions. Not gonna lie, it scares me, but the thought of him continuing to have mouth pain is not acceptable. Once he heals from the extractions, he should be able to live a normal life and be his fun, loving self again.
And if you’ve read all of this, you know this is where we need your help. Rescue is hard. We could NOT do this without your support. If you can help in any way, even $1 will add up. We appreciate you all so much.

🧡This is Darrell!!

He is extremely shy and is usually hiding at the top of the door window or in the back.

But!!! He’s so sweet once he is comfortable and will stay by your side!
