Something Pawsitive

Something Pawsitive We offer a one of a kind setting for cat lovers to relax and enjoy some purr therapy in Downtown Paragould.

come play with all of the adoptable cats and fall in love! Please come to Something Sweet(right next door) first upon arrival. We know that the cats are very distracting, and you want to go there first, but for the lounge to stay open, we need you to pay your admission fee first. Once you pay your fee, you’ve got a lot of options.

• Patrons can purchase drinks and/or snacks to take with them int

o the lounge area.
• If there is room for you to head on into the cat area, we will send you in right away. If we are at maximum capacity, we’ll have you wait in our seating area inside Something Sweet. Once we have space, we’ll bring you in.
• Most of the time, reservations are not required to mingle with the cats. We do offer a limited number of reservations during our peak hours so that we can accommodate those who need to be able to get in at a specific time. These need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance and paid for at the time of booking. Without a reservation, you may have to wait to interact with the cats.

This is incredibly heartbreaking 💔
If you can’t make a lifetime commitment, then just don’t.
I realize things change, life happens, moves, babies - we have heard every excuse imaginable.
This poor baby did not deserve this 💔🐾💔

Legacy Deserved Better. 🌈

How would you feel if everything you had ever known was taken from you? If you were passed from home to home, person to person, until eventually there was no one left who wanted you? If you were old, scared, hurt…and completely alone? That was Legacy.

Earlier this week, this sweet senior girl came to us in absolutely horrific condition. She was microchipped, and when they began tracing her history, we learned that more than 10 years ago, Legacy was a shelter kitten. Once upon a time, she was the cute little kitten someone chose. Someone took her home. She had a family. But somewhere along the way, that stopped meaning forever.

Her original owners gave her away. Then she was given away again and again. Until eventually, Legacy belonged to no one. At some point, this elderly girl was put outside and left to fend for herself and she couldn’t. Something attacked her and literally tore her abdomen open, leaving her insides exposed. Then she laid there for days, unable to get up, unable to find help, and unable to understand why no one was coming for her.

By the time Legacy reached us, her injury was already days old and infection had taken over her body. She was septic. I wanted so badly to save her. I wanted to somehow make up for every person who had failed her. I wanted her to have years in a warm home. I wanted her to have a soft bed and a full belly. I wanted someone to call her their girl. I wanted her to fall asleep every night knowing she was safe and wake up every morning knowing she was wanted. Most of all, I wanted Legacy to learn that not every human leaves.
But I didn’t get enough time.

Legacy was only with me for a few hours before her tired little body finally gave up. She passed peacefully before we could get her into surgery, and that is the part that absolutely breaks me. Legacy didn’t die because she was old. She died because she was abandoned. She died because an elderly house cat was left outside unable to protect herself. She died because she suffered with a catastrophic injury for days before anyone helped her.

If just one person along the chain of people who had her had decided that she mattered enough to keep safe, Legacy’s story could have ended so differently. More than a decade ago, Legacy sat in a shelter as a tiny kitten and someone picked her. She was wanted then. She was cute then. She was worth taking home then. More than 10 years later, that same little kitten had become an old woman- homeless, critically injured, and without a single person from her past there to hold her when she died.

Please let that sink in. When you adopt an animal, you aren’t promising them a home only while they’re young, cute, healthy and convenient. You’re promising them the gray hairs, the medical bills, the inconvenient years and the senior years. You’re promising that when their whole world becomes smaller and they need you more than ever, you will still be there.

Legacy should have grown old on someone’s couch. She should have had a favorite sunny window. She should have been someone’s spoiled old lady. She should have left this world surrounded by the family who had loved her for years. Instead, after being passed from person to person, she came to us to die.

I couldn’t give Legacy the years of love she deserved. But for those last few hours, she had a name. She had a warm bed. She was safe. She was cared for. And most importantly, she belonged to someone. She belonged to us, and she mattered.

I’m so sorry we didn’t find you sooner, Legacy. I’m sorry so many people failed you. You deserved so much better than the life humans gave you. You will not be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, sweet girl. No one will ever give you away again. 💔

Y’all. Ozzie's Legacy needs your help. I know we’ve asked for a lot lately. If at all possible, if you can help please do so.

UPDATE: We currently have a unit ordered!!! Thank you everyone for your quick responses and donations. For those that offered up a used unit. If you still want to donate said unit we could always use a backup in case…. I promise I’m not going to touch this unit… at all!!!

Guys, I messed up. Last night when I was making rounds in the cat shop I noticed the window unit we have in there was leaking down the wall. It’s a newer unit with no plug so I was trying to loosen up the window just enough to put the unit at a tilt so it would drain outside and not inside until I could clean it out this morning. I didn’t have a good grip. I dropped the entire unit out of the window…. It landed on the brick outside, fins down, smashing the back in. It bent the copper wiring in several places and the fan. It’s an absolute goner. It was a 14,000 BTU (only 2 years old) and the back up unit we have is a 5,000 BTU and looks like it’s seen some stuff. We have the backup in the window but I know there’s no way it’s going to keep the cats at a comfortable temperature if it’s able to cool the space at all. There’s 43 cats/kittens currently housed in this building!!!! It’s a large building with a lot of warm bodies in there. It’s going to heat up fast. I know this is a problem I created myself. I should have just unplugged it and dealt with the water damage this morning when I would have had help. I know this is not the communities problem to fix. But we are already looking at a mountain of fees and bills we are trying to fundraise for. If anyone has a spare unit or one they have upgraded from and won’t need, we would be so grateful!!! If you can donate even a few dollars, trust me it adds up. If nothing else, please share this and keep sharing this!

**UPDATE TO LAST NIGHT’S POST**

There were four of them, not just three. This one survived the night and he was the puniest of all. Went and got him some antibiotics and kitty formula to get him on the mend.

We could not have done that without your donations. Thank you all so very, very much

Y’all know I’m always honest on this page. I’m not gonna lie, last week was a rough week.
Some of y’all that have been with us for a long time know part of my story.
I’ve had multiple surgeries on my ankle ending with a total ankle replacement. A year later, I had a total hip replacement. Well a couple of months ago, I injured my knee and have been patiently waiting for an MRI. I had that last week and got what I thought was devastating news and would be facing a knee replacement. Also, my dad is in a nursing home and we got some bad news last week.
Our AC went out at Something Savory, our new cafe next door to the cats. (If you haven’t stopped by for lunch, you should).

And by now y’all are probably wondering what all this has to do with this adorable picture of kittens.

First, my dad is doing OK. Second, we got the AC going at Something Savory. Third, I met with the orthopedic surgeon today in Memphis and got good news. He says I do NOT need surgery, that my injuries will heal (faster if I stay off of it 🤷🏼‍♀️).

So, now to the kittens. I was on my way home from Memphis when a friend text me and said she had 4 baby kittens under a house (that’s empty and for sale), the neighbor kids said momma cat was killed 3 days ago. That means these kittens have been on their own in this heat without food or water. I am actually shocked they’re still alive. This heat is brutal.
The sad thing is we get calls like this all the time and I know people have to wonder how we make decisions to step in. It’s kind of like a triage room in the ER. We take the most dire, emergent cases at the time IF we have a foster home that has a spot available and if we have finances to purchase formula and get vet treatment. We rely solely on donations and money out of our own bank accts.

The picture a tally makes them look bigger than they are. They’re tiny, about 3-4 weeks old. These babies are going to need round the clock care to make sure they’re hydrated and regulating their body temps. They’re going to need flea treatments and dewormer. They’re going to eventually need vet care. We are hoping they’re healthy enough to survive and that we got to them in time.

So here’s the ask, if you can donate anything to their care, it would mean the world to them. Even a single dollar. If a fraction of the ones that follow our page could donate just a dollar, it would add up and cover so much for them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts - Tracy and these new babies ♥️🐾♥️

We have some new kitties at the cat lounge. They’re all vet-checked, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ready for their new homes.

Come meet them this week! The youngest is 4 1/2 months old, still in the fun kitten age. Our oldest is 14 years old and she’s ready for just a quiet place to lay in the sun and enjoy her remaining years.

Yesterday was an ameowzing day at the cat lounge. The cats had visitors all day and not one, but FIVE found their furrever homes. We are so excited for them all. With all the chaos, we were only able to get 2 pictures. But happy tails to GiGi, Lori, Charlotte, TortieToes, and Purrdy. We wish them the absolute best in their new homes.
