Our Training Philosophy

Positive reinforcement is — and always will be — the foundation of our training.

We believe dogs learn best through motivation, rewards, clear communication, and strong relationships. This is how we teach new behaviors, build confidence, and create understanding. It is always our starting point and our primary approach.

We also recognize that no two dogs, families, or situations are the same. Effective training means looking at the individual dog in front of us and providing thoughtful guidance that supports learning in a fair and humane way.

In some cases, that guidance may include additional structure or the thoughtful use of training tools, based on the needs of the dog and the goals of the owner. Our role is to educate, guide, and ensure that all methods are used appropriately and responsibly — never as a shortcut, punishment, or replacement for training.

We do not believe in fear, intimidation, or one-size-fits-all methods.
We believe in education, professionalism, and meeting dogs and owners where they are — without judgment or discrimination.

Had a great time today presenting to Heart of America, KC Community K9 Teams about my journey in therapy dog work (it’s been 9 years now 😳😂) and all that goes along with it from getting involved with a dog from Puppyhood, to certified team to retirement. Great group of people and dogs and I look forward to what this group will accomplish as they grow!
