Amarillo Bird Dog Club

Amarillo Bird Dog Club Training grounds for the Amarillo Bird Dog people. Membership Required. The Amarillo Bird Dog Club supports upland hunting with bird dogs.

It provides training grounds, training seminars, and training support. We have a lease of 90 acres and a private hunting permit. Quail are available year around. We hold NSTRA and AKC field trials. We have other club functions each year, most are held on the club grounds. We sponsor two (2) training seminars for all pointing breeds of dogs and our lecturer for these seminars is a Professional Dog Trainer. We also host a snake proofing clinic for all breeds.

Snake Avoidance 2025
Great turnout this morning for Snake Avoidance at the ABDC. Several different dog breeds showed up ,from small mixed breed house dogs to large Muenslander, English Pointers,GSPs,Brittany,& Labs.
Thank you to the owners that bought their dogs to be trained,every dog after training
Avoided the rattlesnakes.

New flock of pigeons stocked at the ABDC today, the pigeons won't be ready until they learn to home back (4 to6 weeks) ,lock combo have been changed,members will be notified when pigeons are ready to train with,going forward if training with pigeons & one dies in your possession cost is $6.00.

Top of Texas Quail Forever Annual Mentor Hunt
March 1st the Annual MENTOR HUNT will be held at the ABDC grounds, Hunt will start at 8:00am .
The club needs volunteers to catch birds,plant birds. Members are encouraged to bring their dogs to guide & mentor the future bird hunters. Last year the participants loved watching the dogs work, and they have alot of questions about bird hunting & about the bird dogs.
Hope each member can come & be part in helping the future bird hunter.
