- How long you've been at GWAH: 26 years
- Team Dog or Team Cat: Both! (specifically Team Poodle/Team Sphynx)
- Hobbies: Pet grooming, dog training, and arts & crafts
- Pets: Everlee - Cat (Sphynx), Jabari - Cat (Sphynx), Jelly - Dog (Standard Poodle), Bunnie - Dog (Standard Poodle), Gracie - Dog (Standard Poodle)

- Funniest story about your pet: I woke up one morning to my French Lop rabbit sitting on my vanity at the mirror with my make-up in front of her!

- What you like most about working at GWAH: I love the interaction I get to have with everyone, including the pets and clients, but most of all, with my co-workers!

📝 Here's a sneak peek at how Dr. Knox is spending his weekend! He’s out West right now hard at work sharpening his veterinary skills, gaining new insights, and staying up to date so we can continue providing the very best veterinary care!

Next up is someone who you may not see very often but who plays a crucial role behind the scenes, Shannon Reel!

- Position: Practice Manager
- How long you've been at GWAH: 10 months
- Team Dog or Team Cat: Team Cat
- Hobbies: Reading, going to the beach, listening to live music
- Pets: None

- Funniest story about your pet: I don't have any pets, but I do live vicariously through my mom, her 20 cats, and her other unique pets! When I went to visit my mom one time, we got to the house and there were 5 very overweight raccoons lined up against the tree line in front of empty dog bowls. I busted out laughing and asked my mom what was going on! She responded that they were hungry because it was their lunchtime so they were waiting on her to feed them. She answered so nonchalantly that it seemed like she thought it was something normal that everyone did!

- What you like most about working at GWAH: Dr. Knox's vision is what drew me in, and I love the mission and the culture here. What I've come to love even more now is the staff. They have become like family, and I want to help them be the best they can be!

First up is Dr. Jacob Knox!
- Position: Veterinarian/Owner
- How long you've been at GWAH: 10 months at GWAH, 11 years practicing as a veterinarian
- Team Dog or Team Cat: Team Dog
- Hobbies: Bike riding, skiing, going to the beach, traveling, spending time with my wife, Amy, and 4 kids, Ellie (9), Claire (7), Caleb (4), and Grady (2)
- Pets: Annie - Dog (Brittany)

- Funniest story about your pet: A few weeks after we moved to Florida, Annie was outside running through our woods and decided to play with a snake. The snake won and bit her on her snout, and from her symptoms, we quickly found out it was a poisonous snake. She had to be rushed to Gulf Winds, and thankfully, Dr. Vicki and I were able to give her antivenom and IV fluids, and she made a full recovery. Annie clearly decided she wanted to fast-track my initiation into Florida life because nothing says, "Welcome!" quite like a venomous snake!

- What you like most about working at GWAH: I love the opportunity I have to make a meaningful impact on the lives of my clients, their pets, and my staff. I’m especially passionate about strengthening and nurturing the unique bond between humans and animals, an incredible privilege that makes my job at Gulf Winds so rewarding.

With temperatures soaring, it’s important to keep our pets safe in this extreme heat! ☀️

Heatstroke can happen fast — here’s how to protect your pet:
🐾 Use the 7-second rule: If the pavement’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!
🌅 Limit outdoor time to early morning or late evening.
🚗 Never leave them in a parked car.
💧 Provide fresh, cool water.
⚠️ Watch for signs of overheating, like heavy panting, drooling, weakness, and vomiting.

🌴☀️ We’re Back, Margaritaville! ☀️🌴

Gulf Winds Animal Hospital is back at the Farmers Market at Margaritaville Latitude for round two of summer fun! 🐾🍉

We had such a blast last month meeting the wonderful residents and hearing all about their adorable pets 🐶🐱 that we couldn’t wait to come back for more sunshine, smiles, and tail wags.
