Here is a little update on Annabelle. Born on 4/9/23, Easter Sunday as an emergency C-Section, she is now just over 2lbs at 11 weeks old.
She is finally graduated to only kibble and is about the size of the 6.5wk old toy boys.
She is spoiled, loves running around and playing through the fence with the boys. I am not letting her out with the others due to a little bit of an open fontanel.

She loves her stuffed animal bear who is as big as she is and shoes, and can practically fit inside the shoes.

She really is a joy to watch and be around. Thankful she’s survived all that she has.

To be quoted $7000-$9000 for a c-section after paying $3600 Easter Sunday at 3am and losing all but 1 puppy and momma dog 17 days later I completely lost my cool with one of the only emergency vets in the Southern Indiana and Kentucky region.
It’s a monopoly.
The Toy and Minis have the possibility of complications due to size variation but none of my recent needs have been due to size of puppies. I try to do everything right when pairing dogs but at the end of the day it’s best to walk away.

I make this post with sadness and defeat. After 7 years I have decided to no longer breed. With todays costs of care - food, annual and monthly care, and emergency vet costs, not to mention the early morning and late nights - it is no longer worth the heartbreak, missing family events, and the mental and physical tolls the work puts on the body.

Since December I have had 3 emergency vet visits for c-sections and 1 surgery for broken metatarsals. In the 2 C-Sections prior to tonight I have lost all the puppies but 1 (who hasn’t made it into the clear yet at 4 weeks old) and one of the mommas.

I will be rehoming all of my ASDR Minis and Toys to pet homes only.
