🦷✨ Dental Health Matters — Even for Our Fluffy Smilers

Good dental care isn’t just about fresh breath it’s a vital part of your dog’s overall health. At New England Samoyed Rescue, we've seen pups arrive with dental disease that can affect their comfort, appetite, and even their heart and kidneys.

Regular brushing, routine vet checks, and professional cleanings help prevent painful infections and keep our Samoyeds feeling their best. A healthy mouth means a happier, healthier dog and a longer life filled with zoomies, snuggles, and big Sammy smiles.

✨ Our Website Is Officially Live! ✨

Today marks a major milestone for New England Samoyed Rescue - our official website is live! NESR began as a mission rooted in compassion, and now we finally have a home where our community, adopters, fosters, and supporters can gather, learn, and grow with us.

Before NESR was a rescue, it was a promise: that Samoyeds in New England would have a dedicated, compassionate safety net. Our region has long needed a breed‑specific organization focused on the unique needs of Samoyeds and NESR was created to fill that gap.

If you’re looking to rehome your Samoyed, please don’t go it alone. Posting an ad and placing a dog independently can unintentionally put them at risk. NESR thoroughly vets every potential home and ensures all fosters and adopters are educated and supported with the knowledge needed to care for this special breed. Our team brings over 35 years of combined Samoyed experience to every placement and every decision.

We’re still polishing a few things behind the scenes, but we’re thrilled to welcome you into our new online home. Thank you for being here at the very beginning. NESR is more than a rescue, it’s a community, and we’re grateful to grow it with you.

Some dogs love attention everywhere… and some prefer a little personal space. If you’re meeting a new dog, especially a rescue start slow. Respectful interactions make all the difference.

A helpful rule of thumb:
• Safe zones: chest, shoulders, and the side of the neck
• Proceed with caution: top of the head, tail area
• Avoid: paws, legs, and anything that makes the dog stiffen or lean away

Every dog communicates in their own way. When we listen to their body language, we build trust and trust is the foundation of every successful foster, adoption, and happy tail.

A little patience goes a long way toward making a dog feel safe.

The Secret to a Happy, Healthy Coat

Samoyeds don’t just have fur — they live in it. Their double coat is their insulation, their protection, and honestly, part of their personality. One of the best ways to support your Samoyed’s health (and keep your home from turning into a snow globe) is regular line brushing.

❗️❗️Why Line Brushing Matters❗️❗️

🦴It reaches all the way down to the skin, preventing painful mats

🦴It keeps the coat clean and able to regulate temperature

🦴It reduces shedding by removing loose undercoat before it spreads

🦴It strengthens the bond between you and your dog — grooming is connection

🐶🦴How to Line Brush🦴🐶

🐾Work in small sections, parting the coat so you can see the skin

🐾Use a slicker brush or pin brush, followed by a comb

🐾Move slowly and gently — Samoyeds are sensitive souls

🐾Pay extra attention to “trouble zones”: behind ears, armpits, tail base, and pants

💡A little Reminder💡

🪮🐶 A well-brushed Samoyed isn’t just beautiful — they’re comfortable. Grooming is one of the kindest gifts you can give them.
