Here is an example of one of our CSA boxes. They are put in durable boxes that are sized according to your order and are exchanged every week. The produce will change every week based on what’s in season, but you can plan on 6 or 7 items.

BTW: We are not certified organic but we use very minimal treatment of any kind. We DO NOT use any GMO seed and we DO NOT spray any of our vegetables or fruits with roundup.

This post is for all the Valdezians out there! (It’s a little bit lengthy, but necessarily so.)

We are excited to announce that we have made new arrangements for our CSA deliveries for the upcoming season. The details are as follows:

-We will be contracting with Wilson Bros. to truck the CSA boxes to Valdez.
-The boxes will be driven to Valdez in a refrigerated van and stored in a cooler upon arrival in Valdez.
-The boxes will be available for individual pick-up at the Wilson Bros. office from 8am-5pm on the delivery day. This will give you a wider window for pickup to better fit your schedules.
-One major change this will cause is, due to the overnight shipping arrangements, the vegetables will NOT be picked-to-pickup. In other words, by the time you receive them they will be 24 hours old, but WILL be picked immediately before the shipment departs. We want to make sure your produce is in as good of condition as possible so we will be checking in with you periodically to see how they fared.

We hope that these new changes will help make our CSA boxes more accessible and convenient for our fabulous Valdez customers. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

For those of you new to a CSA program, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a powerful investment in your health, community, and local economy. It’s a partnership between farms and consumers. When you enroll in our CSA program you are choosing to invest in the process of where your food comes from and be connected to the outcome. As the vegetables ripen and prepare for harvest those with a subscription will get the first fruits as they come on.

Here is how our CSA works at Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm...

-Enrollment begins at the first of the New Year and continues until all available slots are full on a first come first serve basis.

-A CSA subscription will provide you with a weekly delivery of fresh seasonal vegetables starting around the beginning of July and running through sometime in September (depends on growing conditions) for a total of 10 weeks. The vegetables will be packed in a recyclable plastic box that and you can choose a regular size box (feeds 2-3) or a large box (4-7). These boxes will be returned to us again the next week when you pick up your subsequent order. This way we do our part in avoiding unnecessary waste. The contents of these boxes will vary based on the time of year. For example the beginning of the summer may see a box overflowing with strawberries, lettuces, zucchini and other greens and herbs while later you may tickle your taste buds with the likes of sugar snap peas, carrots, potatoes, squash, and raspberries. We will also provide you with a link to recipes so you know how to prepare your vegetables.

-Pick up will be at one of six locations of your choosing-Palmer, Wasilla, Eagle River, North Anchorage, South Anchorage, and Valdez.

Happy Monday everyone! One of the programs we are going to be continuing this year is our HomeCookin' Meal Subscriptions. What better time to try it out than right now - New year, New you - am I right?!

We know many of you are current or returning customers but figured now was a good time to reintroduce the program!!

WHAT IS HOMECOOKIN?
With life being so hectic it can be difficult to prepare dinner every night without eating out or being unhealthy. Now you can get hot, home cooked, healthy, locally sourced, dinners for you and your loved ones! For your convenience we have made it so meals only need to be picked up twice a week. Each pickup day will include two meals - one hot and ready to eat, and one that will take minimal preparation - for a total of four meals a week. Let us worry about mealtime so you don't have to!

HOW MANY MEAL OPTIONS ARE THERE?
We offer 90 meals in a row without repeats!

HOW DO I PICK THEM UP?
We deliver on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6 PM at four convenient locations: the farm, Palmer, Eagle River, and Wasilla. You can choose where you would like to pickup.

Happy New Year Everyone! As we close out 2024 and head into 2025 we want to thank the community for your support and love. You are why we do this. Our mission is to help feed the community, educate those within our reach about the importance of sustainability, and create a gathering place.
