With bird season coming to a close decided to get some birds headed home. Finished this multi dead duck mount up for a young hunter! Shoutout to Nichols Taxidermy Bases on the killer wood shelf!

Attended the Nebraska State Taxidermy competition this year and couldn’t be more happier! Met some great people and brought home some awards. Ralph Stevens Award for most creative whitetail and Blue Ribbon professional whitetail. Thanks again to the association for putting on a very nice show.

☀️Good Monday Morning,

Mr. Gunner Reimers traveled from Plainview, Nebraska for his 40 Hour Avian Taxidermy Training Class.

Gunner first got his start in Taxidermy at 14 years of age when he decided to drag out an old pot and start boiling european skull mounts for whitetail deer.

Fast-forward to age 18 and he was ready to start working full time at Jacot Taxidermy in Veridge.  His mom insisted that he get his business degree first so he enrolled at Northeast community college. He found a way to make it work by going to school and working part time in the Taxidermy Shop. He is now well-versed in mounting ungulates including deer, antelope, moose, elk and predators.

This year Jacot Taxidermy is growing again and is currently moving into a larger building so Gunner used this opportunity to expand his skills and came to Texas to get formal training on Waterfowl Taxidermy.

Gunner jumped right in and immediately showed that he is skilled in skinning, wheeling, sewing and I was very impressed with his painting skills.

We decided to add a Goose (Along with a Wood Duck * Rebuilt, and used the original head * and Mallard Drake) to his class because he will be mounting those in his part of the country. It was a very busy week and he is taking back a host of new skills to his shop!
