With the exception of Zenji, all of the dogs here are rescued from L.A. Zenji is the result of a well planned breeding program aimed at improving the Korean Jindo breed. The rest of the gang are pound hounds. Sadly, Zenji (Ch. Achim of Yooshin) crossed the Bridge back in October 2021. His death was unexpectedly due to kidney failure at just seven years old which was probably genetic. His breeder d

isowned him right after getting his DNA for testing. They never expressed care or concern for him or me during an incredibly difficult time. In fact they were in obedience training with Zenji and I for 14 weeks, only giving us the cold shoulder. Nuff said. The Rockin Red Dog is not a 501c(3) non profit. We work very closely with two dedicated non – profit dog rescues but are financially independent of them. A Passion for Paws Akita rescue has allowed over 40 Akita and Akita mixes to move through The Rockin Red Dog. Two Dog Farms Jindo Rescue has been a pillar in Jindo rescue for almost a decade. Many Jindos have had the good fortune of being saved in our team efforts as well.

Jet Jindo had a fun filled day. Or at least a healing day that felt good. He has been having kidney issues and was having a hard time. Not eating and very lethargic. Was it time? Not yet. Today he had two special visitors to make him feel better. First was his primary care veterinarian Dr Lennox. She gave him a hands on exam and some meds. But his favorite was she gives him a coconut oil facial. After she left he ate more than he’s eaten in four days. That’s a good thing. Then this evening Dr H came by for laser and acupuncture. He tired.

Our newest foster, American Akita Coal, got his first bath in a long time - maybe ever - yesterday. He did great. And now he is even more beautiful. Coal will be available for adoption once he gets neutered. He has a lovely and sweet temperament. He’s a big goof. Let me know if you’re interested in bringing this handsome fellow into your home.
