Here is our AV Press Pet of the week:
💚💚SAILOR💚💚
ANIMAL ID #: A5779883
ANIMAL NAME: SAILOR
A beautiful one (1) year one (1) month female, white and black Labrador Retriever mix was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center as an owner surrender. Her previous owner stated that they do not have time for her. She is named Sailor.
Sailor approached the staff with an upright posture, neutral ear and soft eye gaze. She was flexible and relaxed, wiggly and approaches readily. She was seeking attention and love from the medical staff as well.
During her play yard time, Sailor was friendly and seeking affection in the kennel. She was wary on leash and required constant coaxing to walk to the catch pen.
She was seeking affection with a neutral tail wag and soft eyes while the collar was easily clasped around her neck.
She did not approach the fence to greet any dogs as she appeared wary. She timidly entered the yard, shadowing a handler while seeking affection. She was then approached by a few dogs. Sailor leaned away from them with concerned eyes but tolerated them sniffing her body. She wasn’t comfortable with them lingering near her face and simply turned her head away to avoid them.
She continued shadowing both runners to solicit affection and reassurance. As time passed, she relaxed significantly and began exploring the yard. She exchanged good greetings with the other dogs as she approached them. She was enticed for play by a female border collie and male shepherd, declining both attempts.
She remained calm and social for the rest of her time in the yard, particularly enjoying affection from the handlers. She did not display any play style. She needs further socialization.
Sailor is BEHAVIORALLY APPROVED FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY. She is now ready for adoption, available today for meet and greet. Check this wonderful dog out and maybe you could be the best home for her to thrive in.
Palmdale Animal Care Center is open to the public from Mondays to Saturdays, 11am to 5pm. We hope you will give this beautiful dog a chance to get her forever home.
