Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which operates the city’s animal shelter. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is an open admissions municipal shelter serving the city of Palm Springs and providing programs for animals, pets and pet owners across the Coachella Valley. Founded in 1996, Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies is dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies has been actively raising funds to assist the Palm Springs Animal Shelter with operational needs since it's inception. On November 1, 2012 the City of Palm Springs and Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies entered into an agreement allowing Friends to assume operation of the shelter. This partnership paved the way for a new model of sheltering in the City of Palm Springs. Committed to being a humane and compassionate animal care and adoption center, the shelter does not euthanize animals for space, or for length of stay. As a public, open admissions shelter we provide a safe haven for ALL animals - those who are highly adoptable, those who require rehabilitation and training, and those requiring minor to severe medical treatment. To meet the challenge of compassionately operating a public shelter, Friends relies on donations, volunteers, foster guardians, community support and of course, ADOPTIONS!

California Adopt-a-Pet Day is coming!

Palm Springs Animal Shelter is participating in California Adopt-a-Pet Day, a statewide adoption event with more than 150 shelters helping pets find homes.

Meet adoptable pets like Dawson and Sapporo and so many more animals ready for their next chapter.

Unleash love. Find your friend.

Adoption fees will be waived for dogs and cats during the event. All adopted pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Fosters urgently needed for gruel-feeding kittens

We are in immediate need of foster volunteers for kittens approximately 4–6 weeks old who are eating gruel. Experience with young kittens is preferred.

Gruel is a mixture of kitten wet food and kitten milk replacer. At this stage, kittens have graduated from bottle feeding and are learning to eat on their own, making foster homes critical to their development and success.
