SYBIL IS HOME. ❤️🐾
A few nights ago, Space Coast Drone Pet Recovery was contacted after Sybil, a blonde Golden Retriever, slipped her collar during a golf cart ride and disappeared into the night.
The call came from a family member on behalf of Sybil’s owner, her grandmother, who was absolutely devastated.
I responded that same night and deployed the drone after briefing with the family. We searched for hours but never spotted her. It was heartbreaking leaving that first night without answers.
The next day brought pouring rain and severe weather, grounding our drone operations. Then an incredible neighbor reached out after hearing we were helping and reported spotting Sybil behind his home in a heavily wooded marsh area.
The family rushed out and actually saw her… but Sybil was terrified and bolted again.
That same neighbor helped them set up a feeding station to hopefully keep her nearby until we could redeploy.
On Day 3, I launched again.
Within minutes, I located Sybil hiding under thick brush. Even from nearly 400 feet AGL, she stayed nervous and constantly moving while I guided the family toward her position.
They slowly closed the gap…
…and she bolted again.
Eventually, Sybil crawled underneath an old pickup truck and stayed put long enough for the family to safely get a leash on her.
Contained. ❤️
She was filthy, soaked, matted, exhausted, and scared after two nights outside in the rain, but she was finally going HOME.
The relief and emotion from her owner was something none of us will forget.
Huge credit to this family for never giving up, and to the amazing neighbor who stepped up to help.
This is why we do what we do. 🐾🚁
