Good morning, everyone. It's a bitter day here in WNY, but Heidi has dug out of the winter blast that passed through Paint Rock, Texas and is looking at a nice Sunday!

Mellowdea Kennels is looking to adopt out some pups who have not yet connected with their furever homes. We have both males and females.

The puppies in the reel are about two years old, but we also have younger pups, who are around 11 months or so. If you’re looking for a specific age or s*x, please contact Heidi at the number below; she’s amazing at matching the puppy to the person!

These dogs have high hunt instinct/drive and we would prefer they go to hunt homes. They are well socialized, and have some hunt training.

Priority will be given to current Mellowdea pup owners/hunters, but all interested parties will be considered. That said, we are looking for homes that are GSP savvy/oriented - while these are great dogs, like all breeds, they have their quirks and need to be placed in environments that understand them.

The pups have outstanding breeding, but because they will be adopted out at no cost, there will be no papers and/or breeding rights attached.

Happy Monday, everyone.

Some quick notes -

A belated but very happy birthday to Jamie Westley, a key part of what keeps Mellowdea Kennels running day to day and moving forward.

NAVHDA plans are moving forward. It's a slow process, but we are always welcoming new interest - please contact Heidi directly at 716.997.8271 (NY number; TEXAS location).

In moving the process ahead, Mellowdea is getting ready to build the flight pens, and there is a potential partner in the bird raising aspect coming to visit for both puppy and NAVHDA purposes.

Heidi and all of us at Mellowdea Kennels are sending our love to Cindy Cate, who lost her beloved Ginger way too soon.

Most of us have shared this tremendous loss at one time or another, so we all know how devasting it is to lose our furry family members; it's even harder when it's a young pup.

Attention all hunters/hunt families!

Heidi/Mellowdea Kennels is applying to start a NAVHDA chapter in Lake Ivie, Texas.

They will be raising their own birds and offering training on an 800 acre site adjacent to the Mellowdea Kennels property.

There has already been significant interest, but the more the merrier - everyone is welcome.

You do not need to be local to join, or to come and train!

San Angelo is a short distance from Paint Rock, and offers pet friendly hotels, a regional airport, and a variety of true southwest experiences for visitors, making a training vacation a great option.

We are still looking for the right forever home for our two little ladies, Marcy and Woodstock.

We are offering a "finder's fee" to anyone who helps us to make that connection to a safe and permanent home for these girls. We know that Mellowdea families are likely to understand the importance of the right placement for these puppies.

If you know of a good fit, the process is:

Have that family contact Heidi DIRECTLY at 716.997.8271.
They must give her your name as the referral.
You should also contact Heidi to confirm that you referred them.
They MUST be determined to be the right fit for both dogs; only Heidi will make that decision.
Finder's fee will be paid upon delivery of the pups to their new home.

Mellowdea people are the best!

In just a single day of posting, "Tater" has found a new home where she will be loved and cared for in the way she, and all dogs, deserve to be. She will be going to the daughter of a Mellowdea family.

Now, we are seeking your help in a special circumstance!

We are looking for a family willing and able to take a bonded pair of sisters. Marcy and Woodstock are their current names; one look at them will tell you that they come from the best of Mellowdea's fine breeding stock.

These two really need to be placed together if at all possible. They are good with other, larger dogs, but not compatible with cats/small pets.

The hunt instinct with these two is up there, so if you are a hunt family, these girls might be just what you're looking for.

Not a hunt family? Marcy and Woodstock will be happy to be each other's playmate and best friends.

At just a year old, you get the best of both worlds - their sweet nature is evident, they are potty trained, some obedience done, and ready to start on field training if that's your desire.

The pricing for these pups together will be EXCEPTIONAL to the right home.

UPDATE: WE ARE THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE THAT "TATER" HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

As many of you know, Mellowdea Kennels will always take back one of their puppies in the event that the family is unable to properly care for it. Mellowdea has also become something of a rescue for other dogs in need.

In these cases, Heidi will assess the dog for any particular care it needs, and provide that to ensure a perfect bill of health. She will also determine if the dog is suitable for rehoming.

At this time, there are a few dogs that are up for adoption. In almost all cases, the dog is a Mellowdea Kennels bred GSP. You can be quite sure of getting a quality pup at a fraction of the usual cost - we just really want to get them into stable, loving, permanent homes.

Today's featured GSP is a female, previously named "Tater." She's a lovely, mellow dog with a sweet temperament. That said, she is NOT cat or small dog suitable and should go to a home where she will be the only pet.

If you are looking for a quality bred female GSP, a companion dog that just wants to love and be loved, this little girl may be right for you.
