Desert Haven Animal Society is an open-admission, no-kill animal shelter located 60 miles west of Las Vegas in Pahrump, Nevada. After the only public animal shelter in Pahrump closed its doors during the summer of 2015, DHAS stepped in to reopen a very necessary public asset as a safe haven for lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals in Nye County. DHAS is a registered nonprofit 501(c)3 organizat

DHAS strives to reduce the homeless pet population in Pahrump and surrounding areas by reuniting lost pets with their owners and by finding loving homes for all adoptable stray or surrendered pets. We also seek to increase awareness on the epidemic of pet overpopulation and to promote responsible pet ownership and care.

Our Story

Desert Haven Animal Society ("DHAS") is a private nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization located in Pahrump, NV, operating under contract with Nye County to provide shelter and care to animals collected by the municipality's Animal Control Officers.

​DHAS also operates an animal shelter and adoption center, open to the public and providing adoption placement for abandoned, stray, or surrendered animals.

DHAS depends on its dedicated staff and a community of devoted volunteers to care for the animals that arrive at Siri Lane, which, in addition to dogs and cats, sometimes includes small mammals (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters), poultry (chickens, ducks, peafowl), and livestock (horses, goats, and pigs). Our volunteers are an amazing bunch who work tirelessly at a wide range of tasks, including cleaning, feeding, watering, driving for medical or rescue transfer, yard work, laundry, and general maintenance. We truly couldn’t do what we do without them!

Desert Haven is located off State Route 160 at 1151 Siri Lane in Pahrump, NV.
