So what is the story of Homeward Bound Bernedoodles??? It sprung out of the partnership of Shari Hall at Shining Star Doodles and Bria Freeman at Selah Mountain Dogs. Bria and Shari have 7 kids between them as well as many other children that Bria has helped raise through foster care.
Bria and Shari’s partnership grew out of a deep friendship centered in integrity, faith, generosity, and care of others. Bria and Shari both have a passion for animals and people and have spent countless hours studying dog training, animal husbandry, nutrition, genetics, and puppy raising. They both share a vision to see healthy, happy, well-tempered dogs matched with humans that are looking for the perfect companion or therapy prospect. They truly believe that breeding and raising pups well can change people’s lives. They both have many testimonies of autistic support, su***de prevention, emotional supoort, hearing support, mobility support, ptsd support, and therapy dogs have tremendous impact on the lives of their owners. They have seen the dogs also flourishing in these purposes.

Since Bria and Shari have also seen how amazing a well-tempered family dog is with children, they also found purpose in placing many of their pups into homes where they can be the childhood dog that is happily recalled in family memories for the rest of a lifetime. Shari also witnessed the therapeutic qualities of dogs in her own family when her daughter was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Their dogs played a huge role in the treatment of the condition and were instrumental in the daughters improvement. Bria has also experienced this with her foster care work. Dogs often play a huge role in emotional regulation and sensory input when working through trauma, and stress. They are also a safe and non-judgmental source of love. Their own personal experiences have been huge in the desire to share their dogs with others.

Bria and Shari have both been raising goldendoodles for 7 years. While goldendoodles are very human focused dogs, Bernedoodles can often be a bit more environmentally focused. For emotional support there is often a need for a very human focused dog that will make sure their human is engaging with the world. In other cases, a dog that is more of a calming presence in a room and not as focused on the human is helpful - such as in the case of a trauma therapist that wants a support dog in their office.
Bria and Shari decided to use their shared knowledge and resources and invested in some Bernedoodle breeding dogs together in order to offer a slightly different type of therapy and support from their Goldendoodle lines. Homeward Bound is a co-op breeding program where we share the resources, time and knowledge between us. We hope to share some of our love and dogs with you as well!

Introducing our first litter of Golden Mountain Doodles from parents Zoei (Goldendoodle) and Liam (bernedoodle)!!

Golden Mountain Doodles are a purpose bred mix with the goals of high genetic diversity (correlation to better health), high trainabilty, mellow temperaments, and human focus. This litter comes from proven therapy and support lines and is partially being raised by a service dog trainer. We work hard to provide temperament and training info to help pups and families thrive together and have as easy of a transition as possible.

Both parents have full health testing (dna, as well as OFA on hips, elbows, patellas and heart). Pups should mature in the 30 - 45 pound range. They are ready to go home mid August. Pups are sold with a health guarantee. We have availability on this litter! Message for more info!

Exciting news! We are preparing for our first ever Golden Mountain Doodle litter.

What is a Golden Mountain Doodle? It is a mix of a Bernese Mountain Dog, Poodle, and Golden Retriever.

But, “why?” you ask. Well……

Bernese Mountain Dogs can be awesome mellow dogs but sometimes a bit stubborn and less adaptable to new environments. Golden Retrivers on the other hand are extremely outgoing, friendly, easy going, and adaptable. Combining those two breeds along with the non-shedding, and intelligence/trainability of the Poodle often results in the ideal temperament mix.

Golden Mountain Doodles also offer the benefit of increased genetic diversity. Genetic diversity is correlated with overall health and longevity. Thoughtfully cross-breeding with purpose means screening for all diseases associated with the breeds you are combining. All of our parent dogs are screened for breed relevant health conditions with DNA testing, OFA and Penn HIP screenings.

Our F1 Goldendoodle (50 percent Retriver and 50 percent poodle) mama, Millie, and our Multigen Bernedoodle stud Liam (40 percent Bernese and 60 percent poodle) will be bred at towards the end of this week. We are expecting this litter to produce pups in the 40 - 50 pound range. Pups will have wavy low to no shedding coats in which have the traditional tri colored Bernese markings as well as a few parti (white body with black spots and tan markings) marked pups.

These pups should make excellent therapy and emotional support prospects. Both mom and dad have produced therapy and support dogs. This litter is being bred under the advice of dog trainer and breeding mentors who have experienced the wonderful temperaments of this mix. If you would like the opportunity to add one of these pups to your life, please message us for more info.
