🚨 We’re already seeing heartworm cases in Paducah. 🚨

With mosquitoes coming out, your dog is at risk right now. Heartworms are spread through mosquito bites—and once infected, treatment can be costly (around $1,200+) and tough on your pet.

But here’s the thing… this is 100% preventable.

We make it simple:
🐾 Monthly topical options (just don’t forget each month!)
🐾 OR a convenient 6 or 12 month injection so you don’t have to remember anything

One quick appointment can save your dog from a serious illness.

💙 Don’t wait until it’s a problem—protect them now.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Veterinary Institute of Paducah! 🍀

Did you know one of the most famous legends of St. Patrick’s Day is that St. Patrick “drove the snakes out of Ireland”? 🐍

While Ireland likely never had snakes to begin with, the story became a symbol of driving out danger and protecting the land.

Here in Western Kentucky, though… snakes are very real. 🐍
And yes, we even care for them here at VIP 💚

Our team is experienced in treating pet reptiles, making sure they stay healthy, comfortable, and thriving just like any other member of your family.

So while you’re celebrating today, just remember... snakes may not be part of Ireland’s story… but they’re definitely part of ours.

🍀 Stay safe
🐾 Stay lucky

We’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately… and that’s actually a good thing. 🐾💙

Over the past year, Veterinary Institute of Paducah has been busy growing—not just in the number of patients we care for, but behind the scenes too. From investing in our team with new retirement benefits to continuing the detailed work toward AAHA certification standards, every step we take is about providing better care for your pets and a better experience for you.

Our latest blog also dives into a very real winter experience (including snow, potty-training amnesia, and desperate measures 😅) and shares important cold-weather safety tips—especially when it comes to sidewalk salt, paw irritation, and preventing accidental ingestion.

If you’ve ever wondered:
• How winter weather can affect your pet’s paws
• What to do about ice melt and salt exposure
• What’s been happening behind the scenes at VIP

❄️ Winter Weather Update ❄️

Due to the winter weather moving into our area, Veterinary Institute of Paducah expects to be closed on Monday for the safety of our staff, clients, and patients. We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates here on our page.

In the meantime, please take extra care to stay warm and keep your pets safe during the cold temperatures:

🐾 Cold Weather Tips for Pets
• Limit time outdoors, especially for small, senior, or short-haired pets
• Bring pets inside — even outdoor animals need shelter from extreme cold
• Make sure pets have warm, dry bedding away from drafts
• Check paws for ice, salt, or irritation after walks
• Keep antifreeze and ice melt out of reach (both are toxic to pets)

🧣 Tips for Pet Parents
• Stay warm and avoid unnecessary travel
• Keep extra food, medications, and pet supplies on hand
• If your pet seems lethargic, shivering, or uncomfortable, contact an emergency clinic

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we prioritize everyone’s safety. Please continue to check our page for updates regarding reopening.

Stay safe and warm! ❄️🐶🐱

🐾 Another Happy Pet Parent at Veterinary Institute of Paducah! 🐾

We love seeing reviews like this come in, they truly highlight the level of care and compassion Dr. Jones and the VIP team provide every single day.

When a pet parent came to us for a second opinion after being told their dog may have lymphoma, Dr. Jones took the time to run thorough diagnostics, answer every question, and personally follow up with results. Thankfully, it turned out to be a treatable infection, and care was started right away.

This is what Veterinary Institute of Paducah is all about:
✔️ Honest answers
✔️ Thorough diagnostics
✔️ Compassionate, personal care
✔️ Treating every pet like family

We’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us and love being able to provide peace of mind when it matters most. 💙🐶

If you’re ever unsure or want a second opinion, the team at VIP is here for you.
