Off leash freedom is something I think is very important for many dogs, and it doesn't have to be completely unnatainable.

This is Salty, a 9 month old Belgian Malinois with minimal training, I've been having a lot of fun working with her. I swapped the food out for a ball and am using a clicker to mark the proper position instead of using leash pressure to guide her into my leg, the less help she gets from me the more fluent the behavior will be in the future.

Hopefully setting Cali, the apbt pup, up to be calm and behave neutrally around other dogs in the future. After a few reps of this she basically ignored the other puppy in the dog box. She's only 12 weeks, the breed is prone to dog aggression, and a lot can change for her mentally and in the way her drives are expressed but I'm hoping she can coexist so her owner can hunt with her in the future 👍

While he was just a pup I still made clear my expectations of him. People ask me all the time how long it took me to train him and tell me how lucky I am that my dog listens to me. And while I can't stand braggarts and self absorbed as****es I can't help but tell people that I haven't stopped and will not stop training him, and I'm not lucky. Him paying attention to me is a learned behavior. Everything that dog does is the result of a certain amount of work on my part. And I try to impart that level of confidence upon the people I and dogs I try to help. No Matter what anyone says or thinks, if you get a compliment on your dog YOU get to take credit for that s**t. I've spent the hours equivalent to a part time job for the last three years to get that dog where he's at. Im not "lucky" that I can tell him to down, drop the leash and walk away and know he'll be there when I get back, I put in the work. And no one I've helped out so far is lucky, they've all stepped back and given what I said a shot and decided on their own that it worked and then put in their own work. I'll be damned if I'm just gonna let someone give the credit to the dog, mine or anyone else's. Y'all take ownership of your dogs accomplishments. YOUVE earned it.
