Update on Cheyenne! If you saw our previous post we shared she fell ill and was colicing. We had our Veterinarian Dr. Thompson check her out and treat her. She stayed in the hospital and received IV fluids and pain meds. She did well and was discharged to go back home this afternoon! πŸ€— She is still being monitored closely and we will have a slow transition back to her normal diet. But so grateful she is ok!
To add to our concerns, Coach, our pony also was mildly colicing last night and fortunately only needed some TLC and monitoring for the night/day. He is back home as well!

Operating a farm and providing quality proper care for all of their needs can be stressful in many ways. On healthy happy days it's all smiles. But on the not so great days things can become life-threatening & costly. Fortunately this time we have good outcomes. Things can always change as life is unpredictable. This night, we're counting our blessings, tucking everyone in their beds, and getting some much needed rest. We thank you guys for the prayers and support πŸ™ ❀️ πŸ™Œ

Hi everyone! We have been busy lately and still trying to catch up on our daily posts...BUT today, we are asking for prayers for our Cheyenne. She has not been feeling well and has been admitted into hospital for colic care. So far, she is not bad and our Veterinarian, Dr. Thompson at Northwest Florida Animal Clinic has been taking great care of her. We're all hopeful this will pass and she will be back to her normal self after some fluids and TLC πŸ’—

"Colic" in horses is a general term for abdominal pain, primarily caused by gastrointestinal issues like gas buildup, gut twists, or blockages. Just like us, it can happen. Even in the best of health.

Fun fact, horses can't throw up! And if they're block/impacted/twisted where they can not p**p, this is a major issue and can quickly become life-threatening. This is a leading cause of premature death in horses, it must always be treated as an emergency.

The spiral line you see hanging is connected to her IV catheter in her neck and the 4 large bags of 5000 ml fluids (=20,000ml). Big animal, big amounts of fluids!
