Hummingbird nesting season is here! In the last two weeks we’ve had reports from several people who are seeing hummingbirds sitting on nests.

Tree trimming is a big reason we end up with orphaned and injured baby hummingbirds! Please don’t trim trees, hedges, bushes, until Fall.

Thank you Bill Barron for sharing this beautiful photo! 🍊🐦 🐣🐣💕

Please help spread the word and ensure all our local animal protection groups, rescues, etc are applying and taking advantage of this amazing opportunity!

The Ventura County Community Foundation's Animal Welfare Fund was created to ensure the improvement of quality of life for all animals in Ventura County. The fund's focus is broad, including animals wild and domestic, large and small, on land and in sea. After embarking on a targeted listening tour and hearing from so many community partners about the important and pressing issues affecting animals locally, it is clear the passion and vision that inspired the original donor's gift is shared by many in our community. In this spirit, the Animal Welfare Fund supports an important area of interest and will make a positive difference for many years to come.

The deadline to apply is this Friday, January 14 at 5 PM PST. Click here to apply now: https://bit.ly/3GlS05C

RESCUECON

RESCUECON is a convention like no other, where the human-animal bond takes center stage. Though visual and performing arts, educational talks, family-friendly activities, and pet-friendly services, attendees will learn, play, explore, and, above all, refresh their relationship with other animals.

RESCUECON has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to add a furry family member to your home, learn more about companion animals and how we interact with them, or just do something wildly different this weekend, you are welcome!
