THE SHELTER IS FULL!!!! 💔😢

Look at these faces. Every single one of them is at risk. Their info is underneath each photo. If you are a rescue who can pull, reach out. If you want to foster, reach out. If you have been thinking of adopting GO NOW. Please don't comment on this post and say you are going to adopt one of these dogs if you do not intend to follow through with it! People then think the dog is safe, and they are not. Thursday afternoon is when hard decisions will need to be made. That will happen sooner if strays keep pouring in.

Don't come for us, or the shelter, if any of these dogs don't make it to the weekend. We've been begging for weeks, reaching out to people, offering to pay for hw treatments, sponsoring adoptions, removing any and all barriers, and yet, no one is showing up for them.

So take a good look at these faces. If you have any other questions about any of them, please ask. We will get you whatever information we can. If that question is "are they housebroken" we don't know and cannot answer that. Most of them are strays. Any dog can be trained to be housebroken, it just takes time, patience, and maybe a belly band!

Dogs just keep coming in! We need some adoptions today. Help us save lives!

UPDATE: 🥳🥳🥳 Fred safe in Rescue, thanks to our friends at Pup & Cat Co. 🥳🥳🥳

📣📣📣 SOS - URGENT FOSTER OR RESCUE NEEDED ASAP!!!!! 📣📣📣

Hey guys - this sweet little guy came in to AC with half of his foot gone. We aren't sure how it happened, we don't know if he's cat or dog friendly, and we don't know if he's house trained. What we know is he's extremely sweet, probably only about a year old and he needs HELP!!! We had the doc check him out this morning and he believes it will heal on it's own. But not in the shelter environment. It will need to be kept clean and dry, and even our amazing shelter staff cannot guarantee that. His name is Fred, and we love him, so let's do what we do best and make sure he gets the space to heal before finding his forever home!

Here's what we need from you:
If we get a foster for Fred, we will need to raise funds for his care, and to make sure the foster has everything they need to care for him. Food, bandages, bowls, a crate - you get the idea! YOU WILL NEED TO GO TO THE SHELTER IN PERSON TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION! You must reside in Newton County!

If you are a rescue who can pull Fred, please send those to: [email protected]

UPDATING TO ADD: Bean is now Sponsored!
Meet Bean ❤️

Bean is only 2 years old and weighs just 28 pounds, though she should be much heavier. When she arrived as a stray, it was clear life had not been kind to her. Thin, tired, and far too young to have already experienced so much uncertainty, Bean’s story is one that tugs at the heart.

She was found already spayed and microchipped, which meant someone once cared enough to make sure she was protected. Her microchip traced back to owners in another state, but despite repeated efforts, no one could be reached and no one came looking for her.

It’s hard not to wonder how a young dog ends up so far from home, so underweight, and alone.

Through it all, Bean has remained gentle and hopeful. She greets people with soft eyes and a quiet sweetness that makes you want to promise her that better days are ahead. She doesn’t know why she was left behind—she only knows she’s still ready to trust.

The good news is that Bean is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, and safe now. What she needs most is a family willing to help her gain back not only the weight she lost, but the sense of security every dog deserves.

At just two years old, Bean should be spending her days chasing toys, learning new things, and curling up beside someone who loves her. Instead of dwelling on the chapters she can’t explain, she’s hoping for a fresh start.

Bean has already survived being lost, forgotten, and alone. Now she just needs someone to show her what it feels like to finally be home. 🐾❤️ The Friends of Newton County Animal Services

UPDATE: 🥳🥳🥳 Limousine pulled by rescue!!! Once we get their name, we will tag them!!! Limousine's sponsored fee will now be moved to sweet little Bean!!!🥳🥳🥳

Limo, PhD (Pretty Handsome Dog) 🤓📚🐾

Limo has spent years pursuing advanced studies in Belly Rub Sciences, Snack Acquisition Theory, and Applied Napping. His research suggests that all humans are happier when accompanied by a dog, and he’s eager to conduct further fieldwork in a forever home.

When not reviewing the latest squirrel activity reports, Professor Limo enjoys leisurely walks, quality couch time, and mentoring humans in the art of relaxation.

At around 31 pounds, Limo is the perfect “just right” size. He’s also a seasoned gentleman who has mastered the finer things in life—good naps, good company, and taking things at a comfortable pace. He does really well with other dogs one on one but tends to get nervous in big groups.

Limo is heartworm positive, but the good news is that a dedicated fundraiser has already committed to covering the cost of his treatment. Even better, his adoption fee is fully sponsored, so he’s ready to focus on what matters most: finding his forever family.

Current thesis: “Why You Should Adopt Me.” Spoiler alert: the evidence is overwhelming. ❤️🐶

Come on guys! Three souls ready for their chance at forever!!!! Bring your dogs down to meet them if you are nervous about it. Let them show you how good they are!!!

Another happy ending for a most deserving soul. We couldn't have done it without your donations. Artemis got her amputation surgery, and was adopted that following weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better home for her, and we wanted to share it with all of you. This is why we do what we do. Why we show up every single day, even when the weight feels too heavy to bear. Why we are constantly making videos, asking for adoptions, or donations, or telling you to spay and neuter your pets. Thank you to her new family for sending us this sweet update, and for adopting a sassy, special needs girl!!!

❤️🐾📣Happy Pupdate!! Remember Amethyst, the 4 month old puppy surrendered with more trauma that a lot of adult dogs don’t experience?? Well here she is!! Emmi is her name and she is loving life with Melyssa Minaya and her family. Every day they make her forget a little more of that trauma and understand that not all humans are bad! Thank you for giving her the chance to learn and grow and taking a chance on the dog that either cowered in the corner of the kennel or snarled at everyone walking by! We have seen the good side of advocacy this weekend and it just gives us the strength to keep fighting. We never say never! Emmi, I know you will be the best girl and continue to learn new things every day!❤️❤️❤️ The Friends of Newton County Animal Services Aleah Levendusky
