We have been busy busy this year, and I truly could not be more grateful and blessed for every single one of you whether you are currently working with me, have worked with me in the past, or have recommended me to someone else. Your support means the world to me and to Iron Sharp K9. 🖤

Iron Sharp K9, LLC Turkey Trot Pack Walk🦃

We’re joining the official 2025 AKC Turkey Trot 5K as a club! It’s a nationwide 5k (3.1 miles) event that encourages owners and dogs to stay active during the holiday season! 🐶

Its also a great opportunity for dogs to be around other trained dogs in a structured way, helping them build focus, social skills, and confidence while getting in some physical exercise (for both ends of the leash!).

Choose your walk:
• Thurs, Nov 20 @ 4:30PM
• Sat, Nov 29 @ 9:30am
📍 Location shared privately after sign-up

$30 total:
$20 paid to AKC, they will mail you you’re official medal for the Trot, then donate the rest to their Junior handler programs, supporting young Dog Trainers. + $10 to the FIT DOG club, Iron Sharp K9, so that I can continue hosting community events!

Meet Tux 🐾
One of my puppy students. You’ll often see him in class alongside my GSD Zukun, and that’s intentional. Zu isn’t just here to hang out, he’s my demo dog and a vital part of how I teach.

Dogs don’t just learn from people, they learn from each other. Things like bite inhibition, body language, respecting space, and self-control are shaped heavily by social interactions.

If a puppy only socializes with untrained, over-excited dogs with no boundaries, they pick up bad habits (jumping, nipping, over-arousal) and may even stop trusting their handler if no one steps in to regulate.

When a puppy works alongside a calm, neutral, and trained role model like Zukun, they learn the right social cues:
⟡ How to back off when another dog says “enough”
⟡ How to respect space and read body language AKA not jumping at every dog they see
⟡ How to match calm energy and follow stable guidance

What the science says:
⟡ Puppies that attend structured classes with stable role models are less likely to develop fear or aggression later in life.
⟡ Social learning is real, dogs pick up behaviors by observing and copying other dogs.
⟡ Structured exposure builds trust in the handler, while unstructured “dog park chaos” can teach a pup that their human has no control.

Happy first day of October!! With that being said, October is officially FULLY booked! 🎃👻🕸️

Now’s the time to get your pup trained and set up for success before the busy season hits. Imagine walking into family gatherings with a calm, well-mannered dog instead of stressing about them eating the Thanksgiving turkey while your back is turned, jumping all over your guests, or peeing on the Christmas tree. 🫣

Congratulations to Dutton for completing his first round of Private classes! 🐾

When we first started, he struggled with severe anxiety and reactivity. His owners didn’t feel confident taking him into public places. At home, his nerves were so high that even when his dad came home at the same time every single day, it would still set him off barking. Every sudden movement or small change in the environment left him startled and stressed.

What’s important to note is that he had already completed obedience classes with another trainer and did great with his commands. But just because a dog can “sit, stay, and heel” doesn’t mean they don’t still carry behavioral or emotional struggles. Obedience and behavior are two different layers of training and both matter.

That’s why I love what I do. Yes, I train obedience, but I am also passionate about behavioral work, helping dogs change the way they feel about the world around them. With Dutton I quickly recognized he was carrying the weight of too many choices. By providing structure and taking that pressure off his shoulders, we gave him the confidence and security he was missing.

Fast forward five weeks and the progress has been tremendous. His owners now feel confident taking him out in public, and more importantly, they finally understand how to communicate with their dog and read what he is communicating back.

I couldn’t be prouder of this team. With the right structure and guidance, even anxious and reactive dogs can find peace and confidence. 🐾🖤🐩
