Dog Park
Oxford, Massachusetts We need you! Our meetings will always be posted on this page and everyone is welcome.

We are a group of volunteer community members whose shared ambition is to construct a dog park in Oxford, Massachusetts which will provide a safe place where we can bring our furry friends to exercise and socialize. Life is busy and hectic, when we all put our contributions together - no matter how big or small they may be - we do great things!

Attention all users of the dog park.. it is part of the posted rules to pick up your dogs waste IMMEDIATELY. There is no excuse to leave this for another community member to pick up as there are always waste bags provided.

If you are responsible enough to own a dog, you are responsible enough to pick up after them.

It is with deep sadness that we must inform our community of the passing of one of our own. Vivian Gates was a proud member of The Friends of Oxford Dog Park and we owe a tremendous amount of thanks to her for her time, amazing attitude, and friendship over the years. HUGE thank you to Oxford DPW for the updates to The Barking Lot! Not only did they do a cleanup, spread new mulch and stones, but they also installed new SECURITY CAMERAS! This has been long awaited and we are so happy with the improvements.

Good Morning dog parents! A quick friendly reminder that children under the age of 8 and climbing on the rocks are against our posted rules. This is for the safety and sanitation of all our visitors, humans and canine. Please take a moment to reread the dog park rules. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi All,

Please remember that the dog park is not a place for young children to play. With baseball games in full swing again, we know it may be tempting to bring your children to the gated park to play (with or without a dog). I have seen many times children rolling around the gravel and playing on the rock structures. Dogs are peeing and pooping on every square inch of this park. While the irrigation system is there to help wash the days filth out, it is not the best place for children to play given the obvious bacteria that naturally occurs. Never mind the hygiene aspect, if you are watching your children play, you are not watching your dog and vise-versa. Please be mindful of other dog owners and that their dogs might not be the biggest fan of children.

Thank you.

Here it is!! The moment we've all been waiting for! The Barking Lot is now OPEN!!!!! Please be respectful of the state guidelines below and the posted park rules.

-You must bring your own waste bags with you, but you are able to discard in the provided trash receptacles.

-Each owner must provide their dog with a separate water bowl and to not share with dogs from other households.

-No toys, treats/food, or other materials should be used by dogs or handled by owners.

-As always, please remember to social distance at all times.

This is the new normal until otherwise stated.

These rules and guidelines are not debatable and we must be respectful of those around us. If you have any questions, please reach out and ask.

Thank you for all the incredible patience as we worked to re-open safely.

We are happy to announce the Oxford Dog Park is now open!

We ask those frequenting this great facility to adhere to the following state guidelines:
1) All human users of dog parks should practice social distancing of at least six or more feet.

2) Dog park amenities, including shared water dishes, toys, and other materials, should not be used by dogs or handled by visitors.

3) Visitors of dog parks should supply their own bags associated with dog waste.

Hi Everyone - Its been a while since we have been able to enjoy the park and we wanted to provide a small update. We do not have an official date that we are opening back up. The committee will need to work with the town to implement new guidelines and rules. As soon as we have any update on a future reopening date, we will share ASAP. Thanks!

03/20/2020

Due to the concerns with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Barking Lot will be closed until further notice. We will let you all know when we re-open. Stay safe and practice good hygiene. Thank you for understanding.
