Friends of The Oxford Animal Shelter

Friends of The Oxford Animal Shelter (behind the Route 67 firehouse) We are open for adoption hours from 5:30-7:30pm, 7 nights a week. All other appointments can be made by calling the shelter.

We, the volunteers at the Oxford Animal Shelter, began this page as a way to highlight our residents who are available for adoption as well as our success stories of those lucky enough to have found their forever homes.

I am still receiving FB messages and phone calls to my personal page and phone. PLEASE direct all questions or concerns regarding the shelter, dogs, donations or assistance to Kristyn Rosa at Oxford town hall at 203-305-6212. I am no longer the ACO there. Thank you.

Yesterday was my last day as the ACO for the town of Oxford. It has been a great honor to have served this community and all the residents in it for the time that I did. Thank you to all that I had encountered for your kindness and all the donations that were given. Thank you to the police department for supporting me during a time of need. As much as I will miss this town, I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life. ❤️🐾❤️🐾

🐾❤️🐾 Finally we have gotten through and put away all our donations. Whether it be food, blankets, towels and money, I am, as well as the dogs are filled with much love and appreciation. Not only have they got us through the 2 1/2 years I’ve worked here, they got us through this past snow storm and bitter cold. I just want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to everyone who has thought of us and helped us out. We are forever grateful! I want to especially thank the Oxford High School Booster Club for their generous donation this year during their annual Festival of Trees to the shelter and other charities, keep up the great work. 🐾❤️🐾❤️

Meet Miss Sasha, the husky that was found wondering around about 2 weeks ago. She is approximately 5 yrs old, intact, up to date on her rabies vaccination and is Heartworm negative. Is being treated for Lyme disease. Absolutely loves her toy bunny. Sasha is extremely sweet. Loves belly rubs and just being with someone. House trained as well. Not sure how she is around cats or children. Is selective around the other dogs at the shelter. Best with a family who is very familiar and knowledgeable about the breed. If interested please call Oxford Animal Shelter at 203-828-8671. Social media is not monitored daily so best to call. Thank you.

A HUGE thank you to the Oxford Dept for helping me get this giant wreath up. Looks great. Happy Holidays🎄⛄️🎁🐾

Today was the 1st time I was ever involved in a heroic horse rescue up on Chestnut Tree Hill Rd. Let me tell you, it was very intense. I locked eyes with him and didn’t lose focus. He was stuck with me as his positive reinforcement Coach. Amigo is a fighter especially for being about 30 years young. He is one amazing fella.

Thank you to the Oxford Fire Dept who helped make it happen. Thank you to Scott Pellitier for not letting me go in the water lol. Thank you to everyone who was part of this traumatic rescue. Heather, you were a rock star❤️

Update: So far so good. Lots of thoughts and prayers for Amigo are needed to make it through the night.

🎄HOLIDAY PET SAFETY TIPS🎄

✨Decorate with care:

Tinsel, ribbons and ornaments may sparkle nicely but can also cause serious digestive issues-or worse-if swallowed. Keep them out of paws reach.

🍫Treats are for humans only:

Many holiday goodies like chocolate, candy and baked goods contain ingredients that are very toxic to pets. If you have counter surfers, make sure the are clean and free of those goodies.

🎁Before giving a pet as a present, BE PREPARED :

Pets shouldn’t be surprise gifts, however they are great additions when a family is aware and ready. Before adopting, be sure everyone understands the commitment

❤️Keep calm and cozy:

The excitement of visitors, loud noise and change in routine can stress pets out. Providea quiet, comfortable space where they can retreat and relax.

We at the Oxford Animal Shelter:
Rainy, Sam(aka snoopy), Luna, Summer, Angel and Zeke wish everyone and their pets a safe and happy holiday🎄🐾🎁🐾🎅❤️

When we post on this page it is to help the dogs or people who are less fortunate find great homes for their dogs. It is NOT for your judgement or negative opinions. Situations happen that are beyond our control. Until we walk in their shoes(I know I have)the best we can do is help these animals get to their final destination before crossing the rainbow 🌈 bridge. So please refrain from your negativite comments and let’s network together to get them to a warm and safe home for the Holidays 🐾❤️🎄Thank you 🐾❤️🎄
