It was an Archer and Mommy dog show weekend at the Renaissance Cluster in Madison WI. Poor Mason was entered but came down sick after just making it to one ring.

Archer did great over the weekend placing second and third in an extremely competitive Juniors ring. He was presenting our naughty and untrained curly puppy Cola 🤣. He was quite upset that his Chessie went into heat early. But it turned out great for him!

Archer also showed The Warden our liver curly in breed all 4 days. He took winners dog two of the four days and Best of Winners one of those days. The best part was the supportive curly family cheering on the two young kiddos in the ring.

It’s so much fun watching the kids and dogs run circles together ♥️♥️

But did you know Siouxland is home to its own champion show dog?

As for often happened to many breeds in Europe, WWI saw a dramatic drop in the Curly Coated Retriever population, largely because there wasn't the food to feed them. A few noble individuals, nevertheless, found a way to keep the breed alive even as it meant they, themselves, sometimes went without.

No sooner had the breed gotten back on its feel in the 1930s with the emergence of modern kennels when WWII thrust England into another war. This time, many dogs were sent to safer locations to wait out the war, but the the breed still almost died out for the second time in 30 years.

Happily, the 1940s saw a resurgence of breeding dogs, their offspring now part of present-day pedigrees.

What a whirlwind of a September it has been! We went from Chessie National in Ohio to Curly National Missouri.

The boys and Melissa headed to Missouri to present our pack of Curlys. Archer was awarded best Junior handler and Mason was awarded Reserve best Junior Handler at Purina Farms at our curly National. A huge thank you to their judge Karrie Dollar who was so kind!

And we were completely blown away by the support and kindness that the entire club showed us. Everyone came and cheered the boys on not only in juniors but also in all of the classes they had entered. A huge thank you to Megan for working with Mason and Archer the evening before they showed and also to those who offered for the boys to handle their dogs.

I am so very proud of this crew right here!!! Pictured here are 3 babies out of our very own Teak! (Next Generations Moonshine Still) and her brother.

This group of wonderful ladies competed in Team Rally today at our Chesapeake National Specialty in Ohio. They took 3rd place out of 10 teams. Two of these ladies and their dogs have never even competed in rally before.

What makes it even more special? All four of these dogs have their Champion title as well as an AKC hunt test title.

WAY TO GO LADIES!! 💗💗
A huge thank you to Next Generation Gundogs for putting this wonderful family together 🏆
