Hey All! Clipping season is upon us!
As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, horses naturally start to grow their winter coats. It’s a thousand degrees in our area right now so you may find your horse needing their fall clip a little early. Here are the three most important things to remember:
1. An excellent bath the night before or morning of the clip is mandatory. Use a scrub brush and not a sponge. Scrub all the way to the skin and wash and rinse until the water runs clean. There is a charge for horses who are exceptionally dirty as it damages my equipment and takes extra time.
2. Someone MUST be present while I’m working. You don’t have to stand with your horse if you don’t want to but someone has to be in the barn in case of emergency. No exceptions.
3. Sedation must be available for horses that have never been clipped, are known to be difficult/anxious, or are new to you. If we don’t have to use it, great! Horses that are deemed dangerous (to myself or themselves) will not be completed.
Reach out if you’d like to get on the schedule!
