Miles To Freedom Animal Rescue

Miles To Freedom Animal Rescue Miles To Freedom Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no kill animal rescue organization. Our mission is t

Our mission is to save dogs from overpopulated shelters and areas across the southern parts of the United States. We are dedicated to finding quality, loving, committed forever homes for each animal we bring into our care and provide a better future for them and our adopters. We follow a comprehensive adoption process which includes an extensive adoption application to find a good match and educat

ing prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. All dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all age appropriate vaccinations and proper veterinary care prior to going to their new home. We have a wonderful foster base to help house, train and love our dogs while they await to find their perfect humans. We assist dogs in need without regards to age, breed, or ease of placement and we strive to keep our operating costs low so that funds brought into our rescue go directly back into the care of our animals and our mission to save more.

🐾 THANK YOU!! 🐾

We put a plea out recently for food, and you guys showed up fast! Our dogs’ bellies are full and our hearts are grateful. ❤️

We’re pretty sure our postal worker may not love delivering all these heavy boxes… but our pups sure do appreciate every single one! 📦🐶

Thank you for making sure they have another meal. We truly couldn’t do this without you!

🐾 Meet Our Newest Boy Rigley! 🐾

This handsome guy is just arriving to us and while we are still getting to know him, we are already so excited to watch his true personality begin to shine! ✨

So far, he has shown us that he is:
❤️ Sweet and approachable
❤️ Very social and attention seeking
❤️ Easy to handle and eager to interact with people
❤️ Affectionate and loving
❤️ Full of energy and enthusiasm for life

He has been easy to leash, guide, and handle in the shelter environment and seems to genuinely enjoy human companionship. He happily seeks affection and leans right in for attention. 🥹

At just over 3 years old and around 62 pounds, this large handsome boy is looking for a family ready for fun, adventure, exercise, and lots of love! Because he is still settling in, we know there is even more of his personality waiting to blossom once he decompresses and feels safe. We cannot wait to watch that happen. 💙

Did you know that May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day? 🐶

We especially want to shine a light on our longest residents — the dogs who have been patiently waiting, sometimes for months or even years, for someone to choose them. Despite being overlooked, they continue to love with their whole hearts and greet each day with hope.

Rescue dogs are resilient, loyal, funny, and endlessly deserving of a forever home. Today, help us honor them by sharing their stories, spreading awareness, and reminding people that the best breed is rescued.

Maybe their forever family will see this today. 🏡

Update: Thank you everyone we are so appreciative of our support system! We have a unit!!!

🥵🌡️ We hate asking… but we are desperately trying to keep our dogs comfortable during this heat wave.

Today’s temps were pushing 90° and despite running TWO older smaller air conditioners on HIGH at the coldest setting possible (61° 😵‍💫), it was STILL 76 degrees inside the shelter at 8pm.

With a building full of dogs, body heat alone makes everything even warmer. 🐶💨 The older units are struggling and honestly are very inefficient running nonstop trying to keep up.

We priced out a new 12,000 BTU air conditioner today and they are running around $450. A larger, more efficient unit would make a HUGE difference for the dogs and help keep the shelter cooler and safer through the summer months. ☀️❤️ This model will also work seamlessly and allow us to control the temp even when out of the building ensure safe conditions.

If anyone would like to help us purchase a new unit, donations can be made through:

🚨 Our shelves are getting LOW again and we could really use some help restocking food for the dogs in our care 🐾

With so many hungry mouths to feed every single day, food disappears around here FAST! We are currently most in need of:

🐶 Purina One Lamb & Rice
🐶 Puppy Food
🐶 Diamond Naturals Skin & Coat — we are COMPLETELY OUT for our sensitive tummy dogs 💔

This food is extremely important for several of our dogs who cannot tolerate other foods without stomach and skin issues.

If you’d like to help keep bellies full and tails wagging, donations can be sent directly to the rescue through our Amazon Wishlist 📦❤️

We are so incredibly grateful for every single donation, share, and supporter that helps us continue caring for these dogs every day 🐾💕
