Heads up to our Paws Town clients! Kennel cough is going around the area. We have now had two reports of visiting dogs that have shown symptoms. We expect this number to tick up as “kennel cough” is actually a broad term that includes a number of different viral or bacterial illnesses very similar to human colds and flus in how they present as well as how they spread.

We continue to adhere to strict cleaning protocols, but unfortunately, we haven’t been able to convince our pups to wash their hands and cover their noses. 😅

Although we do require the bordetella vaccine for our boarding and daycare visitors, this does NOT prevent all causes of kennel or canine cough.

If your pet exhibits any symptoms (coughing, nasal discharge, etc.) please keep them home from daycare or any other area where multiple dogs frequent. They can return to daycare once they have been symptom free for two weeks.

Do let us know if your pup shows symptoms or is diagnosed with a respiratory illness so we can track and plan accordingly.

If you have concerns, please reach out to your vet for best advice! Typically, most dogs get over these types of illnesses the same way we do. Rest and hydration.
