Meet Noodle, the cutest little terrier mix from Puppy Haven Rescue! 🐾❤️

Don’t let that adorable face fool you—Noodle is a super smart little guy who takes his job as the family security guard very seriously. His specialty? Becoming a total doorbell alert barker whenever someone approaches the door!

When dealing with reactive barking, the first step is all about shifting their perspective. It took a little time, but we’ve officially built that crucial bond of trust—now when I walk up, he knows the "Snack Lady" has arrived, and the barking is going away! 😂🍿

At his last session, we tackled the "𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞" 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝. Teaching a dog to go to a designated spot gives them a specific job to do when the doorbell rings, instead of defaulting to a barking frenzy. Because Noodle is a little genius, he is picking everything up incredibly fast!

𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒑𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕! 🐾

Meet our two newest 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐬: 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲! Would you believe me if I told you they are both Bernedoodles? They look completely different, but together with our personal pup, Mocha, they are all around the exact same age—which means it is officially a puppy party here! 🎉

We absolutely love when we have pups boarding at the same time. It’s the perfect opportunity to sneak in some incredible, structured social play skills.

Today we beat the heat with the puppy pool, and it was hilarious to see their different personalities shine:
💦 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐲 was all about that pool life—straight into the water!
☀️ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 preferred the "splash-free zone" and played exclusively from the outside.
🧸 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚 decided her official job for the day was Lifeguard, which apparently means stealing every single toy out of the pool as fast as possible.

We mixed up the fun with some awesome water enrichment by dropping treats and kibble into the pool for them to bob for, and then transitioned that high focus right into our training. We crushed our recalls, heel positions, and automatic sits!

The secret to stress-free walks later? Starting inside now. 🤫🐾

Meet Nugget. 🩷She is quite literally the tiniest, most energetic Cavalier puppy you’ve ever seen, and as you can see in this video... her first time on a leash was a whole vibe. 😂 Let’s be real, a puppy's natural reaction to a leash is usually either "What is this snake chasing me?!" or "Let's play tug-of-war!"

When you have a puppy this small, it’s easy to think, “Oh, I don't need to leash train yet, I can just pick them up.” But the absolute best time to start leash training is right now!

At Marley’s Day Out, our roadmap for a perfect walk follows 3 steps:

1️⃣ 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆: No distractions, no scary noises. We teach them that the leash means good things happen, and we practice walking together on the living room rug.

2️⃣ 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒚𝒂𝒓𝒅/𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒘𝒂𝒚: Once they understand the concept inside, we graduate to the real world, just a few feet away from the front door.

3️⃣ 𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔: As soon as they hit that magic milestone of 3 sets of vaccines, they already have the foundation to handle busy parks, patios, and stores without pulling your arm off!

Nugget is currently tackling our 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, and she is proving that small dogs have the biggest personalities. I cannot wait to watch this tiny bundle of energy grow into a total rockstar on the leash! 🎓❤️

While some people are celebrating with flowers, I’m celebrating with... a Dutch Shepherd/Malinois mix! 🤪

Meet the newest addition to my heart and the Marley’s Day Out pack: Mocha. ☕️

She’s a spicy blend of Dutchie and Malinois, with just a tiny splash of Chow—which gave her that adorable signature purple/black tongue! At almost 5 months old, she is already doing fantastic, and I’ve officially accepted my new role as "Mocha’s Mom." 🙋‍♀️
