I am typically not the type to post things like this but we are desperate to save Moto Moto the mini hippo🦛
He was surrendered to me 3/29 @5:40pm after not eating for 6 days and then rushed into emergency surgery due to a suspected foreign body that previous owners could not afford.
He recovered well all day Saturday and Sunday, taking his meds, eating small meals, no vomiting and a good energy level.
3/31 I took him back to work Monday for a recheck, as well as treatment for his double ear infection where he continued to do well until 1pm. Fast forward 6 hours he is lethargic, has pale gums and has a temp of 104.7. I rushed him back into work where we found fluid in his abdomen, filled with infection, and had to go back into emergency surgery to repair the dehiscence, drain the infected fluid and place a drain.
4/1 Transferred him to Oviedo Veterinary Care and Emergency early morning after his 2nd surgery where he continued to plateau in some areas but decline in others due to sepsis.
Surgery was not in our budget after already spending 2k on overnight care and IV fluids, pain meds and antibiotics.
So Dr recommended his best chances of survival was to place a different type of drain and a plasma transfusion which was an additional 3k.
4/2 By 12pm there is still little improvement in bloodwork from the transfusion but Dr says we need more time to really see where we are but Moto is clinically doing well and is more responsive and bright compared to yesterday. New BW will be ran around 8-10pm.
Currently they do want him to stay here longer to monitor his drain output and BW but we are tapped out on funds but Moto isn’t done fighting yet and we don’t want to give up on him just yet so this is our last resort.
If you do not feel comfortable sending money directly to me you can call Oviedo Veterinary Care and Emergency at +1 (689) 689-6100 and they will send you a link to your email.
Anything is appreciated!
