❄️ Dangerously cold temperatures are here, and pets’ lives depend on us.❄️

With very few exceptions, pets left outside in this weather are at serious risk of frostbite, hypothermia and death. This cold is not survivable without proper protection.

If you see an animal in need, do not wait — CALL your local Animal Services immediately.

If Animal Services are not available in your area, call the Sheriff’s Department.

It’s cold out there. Please be kind to opossums. Many of them find a cozy place to combat the cold. (So many are missing parts of tails, ears, toes, due to previous frost bite) and your garage or porch may be the only place they have. They won’t hurt anything, I promise. And shooing them out may be certain death due to lack of shelter. They are Northern America’s ONLY marsupial. These precious souls eat fleas, ticks, and other pests.

Our weather is going to get very dangerous this weekend in the KC Metro Area, starting tomorrow evening. 5" to 8" of snow, plus high temps in the single digits with wind chills as low as -25. Power outages are also a possibility. KEEP YOUR PETS INSIDE EXCEPT TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! WHEN YOU HAVE THEM GO TO THE BATHROOM, PUT THEM ON A LEASH AND GO WITH THEM, SO NO ANIMALS GET LOOSE! Please be responsible!
