Today is National Kitten Day! 🐈🐈‍⬛️🐾

Each year this day reminds us that while kittens are well equipped to find their way into our hearts, many don't find homes. They're abandoned at shelters, on the side of the road or wild and feral. Spaying and neutering our pets, including our cats, is vital to their health and keeping the stray population down.

Does your dog or cat suffer from allergies?

And... did you know there are different types of allergies?

🔴 Atopy (environmental)
- most commonly
- often seasonal
- symptoms: chewing on feet, constant licking, rubbing of face, inflamed ears, hotspot, asthma-like breathing
🔴 Contact Dermatitis
- allergy to something your pet comes in contact with.
- less common
- Symptoms: red itchy bumps/blisters, intense scratching, hair loss
🔴 Food
-10 to 15% of allergies in dogs and cats are caused by food.
- Symptoms include: Itching, ear problems, skin infections (that respond to antibiotics, but then recur as soon as the antibiotic therapy ceases)

If you suspect that your pet has allergies, contact our office at 641-682-8701 to schedule an appointment to determine how best to treat your fur baby.
