The first horse I ever loved was Mira. I was taking riding lessons at a local barn, and she arrived with several other mares as part of a huge rescue, pregnant and sway back. I spent time with all the mares, giving them extra love, but Mira was different. She was patient and kind. We grew to love each other. She was the love of my life even though I couldn't ride her. She gave birth without complication, her foal eventually going on to be a barrel racer, and Mira spent the rest of her life soaked in as much love as I could give. One day I hope to experience that connection again, though I know it will not be the same. Before Mira, I always liked horses. Because of Mira, I love them. ♥️
