It sounds like a second round of upper respiratory illness is upon us. It's the same thing as what blew through the area in June. It just resurfaced and dogs that didnt come into contact with it are getting some symptoms of coughing and sneezing.

If your dog has a sneeze or a cough at all do not bring them into the facility and let us know they are experiencing some illness. Due to the Inn being fully socialized anything upper respiratory can spread so we want to make sure we are limiting any illness that comes in to all the play groups.

If you have questions about CIRDS (canine infectious respiratory disease syndrome) or "Kennel Cough" as it is referred to, please consult your vet. They know the most about the current illnesses in the local dog populist as well as the specific medical needs of your pup.

This is not something unique to My Best Friends Inn. If we are experiencing it, all the social canine settings are also in some capacity. We just like to be transparent about what we are seeing in the local social doggy population.

I met Alyssa the same day I met Erin. She has been a rock in the local pet community for a long time. This is terribly saddening. The dog community here in the greater Kalamazoo Area will be heavily impacted by her loss.

Some of you may have already heard, but we wanted to share some very sad news to the rest of our Camp Fido community.
We are heartbroken to say that our dear friend and longtime wrangler, Alyssa passed away earlier this week.
Alyssa was a compassionate, thoughtful, patient, kind, generous, fun and bright person. All of those qualities made her a great friend; anyone who was lucky enough to know her knew that. Not surprisingly, those qualities made her an exceptional dog handler too. She had an insatiable desire to expand her knowledge of dog behavior to better advocate for and enrich every dog in her care. In addition to her commitment to the dogs, she brought so much joy and laughter to everyone at Camp.
This is a tremendous loss for everyone who knew her, both human and dogs alike. We are especially holding her supportive, committed advocate and partner, Shanny from our Knoll location in our hearts, as well as her beloved dogs Reina & Meeka as we all navigate this loss.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, 9/2. In order to allow the staff the opportunity to attend, Camp Fido will be closing at 4pm next Tuesday.

Natural pest control!

We don't use any herbicide sprays and we don't use any pesticides sprays. If I wouldn't want my kids playing in it, I don't want the dogs playing in it.

The chickens are our pest control and we use brush burners as well as Bridget, Jonah and Archie (the goats) for w**d control.
