Our mission as a small foster based rescue is to save dogs from dire situations (such as kill shelters, at risk of euthanasia) and give them hope.

We especially love to save special needs dogs that need an extra paw up.

Overload of cute Poppy pictures! This pup has been determined to be our longest medical foster ever 😆. Good thing she’s such a sweet girl and a joy to have around. She has been traveling with me on work weekends which has been great for socializing and exposure to new sights.

Those who have followed our page know that miss Poppy was brought in 2 months ago after being pulled from a kill shelter. She was on the euthanasia list due to her congenital deformities. We had to amputate one of her front legs due to how severe the congenital issue was and she has thrived with mobility since then. This is amazing since her remaining front leg also has deformities and only has two toes that give her any stability. We also had her spayed and an abscess treated on her neck. Her spay also did great but her abscess has been one heck of a troublemaker.

Poppy went in for a second surgery on the abscess where they debrided a large amount of necrotic tissue and closed it up. Within 2 days of the surgery it had filled backup and burst open (it’s as gross as you imagine). She then had another anesthesia round for a drain to be placed in the area. During this whole time she’s been on two different broad spectrum antibiotics and had routine vet visits to keep an eye on the abscess site.

Unfortunately 2 days after the drain was removed the abscess filled back up with very gross fluid again. Our vet sent off a culture of the fluid and turns out she has MRSA 🤯. She has been started on the right spectrum antibiotics and is finally healing up!! Her appetite has been on/ off with all of this so she has lost weight unfortunately. We just sent off more bloodwork to be sure we aren’t missing anything but my guess is she just needed to clear her infection.

Regardless of all she’s been through she is still such a sweet and spunky girl. She wrestles with our dogs and digs giant holes in the yard with her one front leg when we aren’t watching 😆. Stay tuned for more updates within the next 1-2 weeks when HOPEFULLY she becomes ready for her forever home.

We have wonderful news… Tim the tripod has been adopted!! He was one of our longest term fosters in the rescue and we were wondering when his perfect fit would come along. Turns out he was right where he was supposed to be all along. His amazing foster (Suzanne) realized that his goofy, loving self was meant to stay with her.

Thank you to everyone who gives a rescue dog a chance and especially to those that take in the special needs ones! You guys are the real heros. 🥲❤️

Update: she’s now in a trial to adopt home ❤️❤️

We have a little spotted girl looking for her forever home! Meet Dottie 🐞. We are guessing she is a Jack Russel terrier mix. She is about 6-8 months old and weighs 14lbs right now so she will stay a smallish gal full grown. Dottie’s foster mom describes her as being very friendly and definitely full of puppy energy still! She is a social girl with people, dogs, and cats.

Dottie will need a home that understands she still wants to chew on everything and will need monitored (like every puppy) to ensure she doesn’t get herself into trouble that way. She will also need a home that understands her energy as playing is her full time job right now 😆.

Our sweet Pop tart (also now called Poppy) has been through the wringer the last few weeks. She had her amputation 3 weeks ago which healed amazing! Unfortunately her neck abscess did not heal and has been explored/worked on 3 times now in 3 weeks. Today we placed a drain and did a temporary wrap so fingers crossed this is the end of her abscess problems. She is on two antibiotics and her appetite has been off so we’re trying to get her weight up. Our next step will be to culture the fluid and see if we can figure out what she is resistant to.

In better news… we did X-rays of her hips while she was under anesthesia and her hips look wonderful! This is very important news since her remaining front leg is not totally normal and she will have to compensate for that in the future. If her hips were bad it would have made for a very hard mobility future for her.

Send our Poppy girl some good healing energy ❤️❤️. She is in Gold Beach with me for work so Northwest Spay and Neuter worked her in today for her much needed surgery.

Looking for transport help again ❤️. This cutie pie had her amputation 2 weeks ago and is doing amazing with adjusting! She unfortunately has an abscess on her neck (unrelated to her amputation) that’s opened three times in the last month that needs to be explored under sedation again. We are also taking hip X-rays of her at the same time so we can prepare any future adopters for the extent of her mobility issues in the future.

Pop tart is scheduled to go to Corvallis this Wednesday for her procedure at the RAD pet clinic. I am waking up at 5am to drop her cute butt off by 7am but she will need to be picked up at 3pm in Corvallis and driven back to Otis to her foster. I’m trying to avoid 2 trips to Corvallis in a day if I have someone willing to help! We will supply gas money for her transport as well. 🐶🌸

Adopted 🌸🌸. Yay!

Miss Wiggles was spayed this week and is looking for her forever family to join. 🤩We originally thought she was mostly a husky mix but she is staying fairly small still at 3.5 months old so she may possible be breeds such as basenji or cattledog type. Our best guess is she’ll be around 30lbs full grown. What breeds do you see in her?

The vet staff and volunteers loved getting to meet her since she’s so social and playful! She has a variety of animals at her foster she plays with and especially loves wrestling with other dogs. Wiggles would make a great active dog for running, hikes, or someone with another dog to play with. Please apply on figzdogrescue.org if you want to meet this cutie.

Transport covered! Thank you everyone for helping save lives ❤️

Is anyone able to help us with picking up this cutie pie from transport tomorrow morning in Salem and driving her back to Lincoln City area? She is the one that’s black and white with the big dot on her back. She’s coming from a kill shelter and deserves a chance to find a wonderful home in Oregon 🥰.

She is 6 months old and 15lbs of unknown breeds (maybe rat terrier/Jack Russell?). If you can transport please reach out and we can chat more! She also needs a name if anyone has suggestions.

Foster found but we do need transport help still.

In a trial home 🌸🌸. Yay!

Meet Wiggles 🐶❤️. This adorable 3 month old puppy is looking for an active home as she has some ENERGY to burn! She loves playing with the dogs in her foster home and can wrestle for hours. We are unsure of her breed but are guessing husky/cattledog mix due to her looks and energy. Wiggles is a social butterfly with people and thinks everyone is her best friend.

Wiggles is learning not to chase cats (since it’s so much fun 😆) but has not shown any aggression towards them. She would benefit from puppy classes and continued training due to her age. Wiggles does have an appointment to be spayed next week and will come vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Meet miss Pop-tart 🍬. This sweet lady was on the euthanasia list due to her deformed front leg. You can see how much joy and spirit she has which means we had to scoop her up for rescue!

We consulted a few vets and the recommendation is to remove the deformed front leg for her long term comfort. Amputation is a last resort but in her case we have to make that call since her leg is already starting to ulcerate from walking on it. As she grows that ulceration will become worse and will become life threatening. We need to give this girl every chance at having a pain free, full life.

It has been an extremely tough week saying goodbye to our last rescue boy Mowgli. He had such a hard past and struggled immensely at the end. My heart will never forget him or his presence. We can never replace him but we want to keep his spirit alive by rescuing this girl in his honor. His donated items have been passed forward to this girl and all future dogs saved from euthanasia. ❤️💔

We have heartbreaking news to share. Mr mowgli had a sudden turn of events the last few days and we had to make the gut wrenching decision to end his suffering. These photos were from before he started showing neurological signs and I want to remember him for his sweet nature here. He was recovering so well from his demodex mange and we had cleared his parasites he came with. He also was making huge strides in learning to trust us and we spent a lot of time with him.

Unfortunately with his neuro signs he developed severe, unpredictable aggression that made it impossible to handle him. He was negative for any common conditions we could test for safely that may have triggered this. It was likely congenital or delayed trauma induced but we will never know for sure what took our boy down. We had our vet make a home visit yesterday and agreed that it wasn’t fair to keep him suffering. Thank you to all who have supported and followed Mowgli’s journey and we are devastated to share this news
