We had SUCH a fun time yesterday with our Athelas Riders!
Each Northfield Farm Show has a special Athelas class to showcase the hard work our riders have been putting in. This was the largest class we've had this year, and they put in the work by riding what some might say was the HARDEST test of the day!

Therapeutic riding naturally improves core strength and postural control as riders engage their deep stabilizing muscles to maintain balance and position in the saddle. The three-dimensional movement of the horse (forward, side-to-side, and up-and-down) provides constant, gentle input that strengthens muscles throughout the body while improving coordination.
Additionally, the rhythmic motion of horseback riding has been shown to enhance focus and attention span. The necessity of staying present and aware while riding helps develop sustained attention skills, while the calming, repetitive gait patterns can help regulate the nervous system and reduce hyperactivity. Many riders find that the concentration required to communicate with their horse naturally improves their ability to focus in other areas of life as well.
