Hi all, Chris here to advocate for one of our awesome doggos! Asher is the last of a group of dogs taken from a large cruelty case by the SPCA this year. Asher came to us on the thin side and filthy. Like fur crusty and greasy with who knows what. Asher has been nothing short of perfect since arriving and has had no applications. We just don't understand why, so off he came to my house to gather more intel for you all. This handsome Dutch Shepherd rode like a dream in the car, sitting snoot up, sniffing all the smells through open windows. Once arrived at my home my husband brought out my Shepherd girl to meet him. They did great! We had playtime in the backyard where they ran, playbowed, chewed toys, and wriggled in the grass. We had dinner and chilled out for the evening in which Asher rested along side me with his head on my lap. Asher was nervous of my husband, but he was also that way when he first arrived at the shelter. He allowed him to pet him and take him out to potty but was just wary. That got much better after the use of treats and some time. Asher fell asleep with a big sigh, slept butted up against me in bed, and didn't move all night. LOL We went for an early morning walk and he walks like a dream! He loved sniffing and trotting along side me. Even encountered our neighborhood fox and deer with no care. Asher is an amazing dog with a funny personality, he's housebroken, respectful, and happily goes along with what his people want to do. He is very affectionate and snuggly. Loves to play fetch and chew bones. He is a bit nervous of strangers, mostly men, but doesn't lash out, just avoids. He was wary of some household noises as well, I assume because he just wasn't exposed much to these things. Like the gurgling coffee pot, the toilet flushing, the vacuum...but what dog loves the vacuum really? LOL He overcame them quickly. For a Shepherd he is pretty chill and would be happy with a daily walk and some fetch time. He mostly just enjoys being with his peeps. He does well with other dogs and avoided our shelter cats. He doesn't seem overly prey driven with our squirrels and chipmunks. A more perfect gentleman you won't find! He is already neutered and ready to go. 4-5years old. And the most brilliant brindle color. He was good for a bath and brushing, as well. Does well in a crate. Please take a gander at my buddy, Asher! He deserves a loving home after the crummy life he's had previously! Applications can be submitted using the link in the first post pinned to the top of our page. Let's get his Ash outta here! ;) See the comments for a video!
