Oswego City Animal Shelter We are a municipal Shelter and Animal Control office. We serve the City of Oswego. We are not affiliated with the Oswego County Humane Society, or the SPCA.

We are Animal Control/law enforcement for the City of Oswego. To adopt a pet you must fill out an adoption application to be approved by our staff. There is a 24-48 hour wait on all adoptions to give us a chance to review your application and give you a chance to think about the commitment of owning a pet. (Some waits may be longer.) Once approved, an appointment will be made for meet and greets.

Adopted pets may not be given as gifts, outside of the household. Adoption fee for dogs = $200 cash/check *Licensing fee may also apply. Adoption fee for cats = $100 cash/check
ALL pets come vaccinated, altered (spay/neuter), microchipped, defleaed/dewormed. Our cat wing may be visited during open Shelter hours, normally 12-4pm Mon.-Fri. We DO NOT have a walk through dog kennel due to public safety reasons. Adoptable dogs will be brought out to meet you with application approval and upon appointment time. The Shelter is closed on holidays and weekends. Appointments for those with approved applications may be specially made on weekends. Please direct any questions regarding applications to the staff by calling the shelter. We do not have access to applications from our page. Thanks! Another sad goodbye this week...Maggie, formerly Holly. She came to us as a puppy in 2016 and was adopted out to her new family. Where she made her loving mark. Her Mom tells us she was the best girl ever and we believe it! She brought all Mags' toys in to share with our kids awaiting homes, in honor of her faithful friend. Maggie unfortunately succumbed to the thing we all dread...cancer. We know we will see that beautiful, soulful face over the Bridge again someday and be met with the biggest kisses. Run pain free, sweetheart! Our deepest sympathies to her family, we know all to well the loss is great.

Sadness. Our hearts can't take any more this week. A sweeter boy you would never find as our Reubin. This ball of smooshy faced goodness came to us in October of 2018, he was a hot mess. Loaded with fleas, scabby, missing fur, ear infections. Through all his treatments, scrubs, and baths he was the epitome of goodest boy. Always quick with a face slurp and he didn't mind that he crawled in your lap all wet after his bath. 🤣 The few of us here that knew Reubs will always remember him as thee most cuddly, biggest ball of mush on the planet. Our hearts go out to his family (Nyla, a former kiddo of ours, too.), as we know they adored him as much as we did. A special kiss to our Nyla as we know she will be missing her BFF. Hugs. ❤️💔❤️

Up for grabs...our weirdo, Millie! She's self entertaining, goofy, silly, slightly odd, she smiles with full teeth, and thinks she's a lap dog, and she is an extruder of pure, genuine human laughter. This sweet girl needs a stage (your home) to put on her show! She'd be great at parties! Free entertainment, like Las Vegas, but better! Somebody grant her Broadway Stage (your home) wish! STOP! You're seeing it here first! Marley conquered her "fear" of the big, red, scary ball today! That fear... It was weird. It was odd. It was honestly just Marley being a goober. But she was very brave and we told her so. The celebration was immense. There were balloons and cake. 😂😂😂😂 Marley needs a home with a big, red ball in place already...or we can just send this one. We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of our former kiddos, Stella. Stelly Belly came to us in October of 2016 at 4 years old as an owner surrender. She was not in the best shape with overgrown nails, ear infections, and some skin issues. She became a fast favorite of our staff (there are are few of us here that remember that beautiful face) and grew close to our hearts. Stell was scooped up by her new family and spoiled beyond measure, just what we like to hear. She often came for visits and sometimes brought her beloved human kids, which she adored. We are so grateful to Stella's family for giving her the second chance at a happy life that she so deserved. 14 years old, that is just amazing! While our time with them is never enough, we are comforted by the fact that Stella was a loved part of your family. We know she did her best to give you all that she had! Run free, sweet girl. You will always have a special place in the hearts of your Shelter family. Our deepest sympathies to you all. ❤️💔

Mama Ivy is officially accepting applications for her retirement home.

After successfully raising her puppies, she's ready to clock out of motherhood and embrace her new life as a full-time couch potato and part-time passenger princess. She is around 2-3 years old.

Ivy is dog-friendly, cat-curious (as long as the cats don't act like tiny mob bosses), and recently discovered that car rides are one of her many talents. She rode like an absolute queen today—10/10 passenger princess behavior.

Two of her puppies are still available, but don't overlook the mama behind the litter! Mama Ivy has put in the hard work and is ready for her retirement package, which should include:

* Unlimited treats
* Cozy naps
* Belly rubs
* Car rides
* Zero child support payments

This hardworking mama deserves a forever home where she can finally enjoy the spoiled life she's earned. Who's ready to let Mama Ivy retire in style? ❤️

Paya (Pie-yah)!! A one year old, purely petite Cattledog. And we mean tiny. This girl is the epitome of sugery sweet! She adores her people more than anything and attention is her goal. She is not your typical Cattledoggy! She does well with other dogs, but needs to be cat tested. She loves to curl up in her snuggly stuffed bed with a toy. Don't miss out on this little dollface!
