We treat spay/neuter like a charity cause. A nice thing animal people chip in for. But look at what it actually stops, and it is not just litters.
Rabies is carried by unvaccinated, free-roaming animals, and the low-cost clinic is where that rabies shot happens for the animals who would never otherwise see a vet. Parvo rips through unvaccinated dogs in the neighborhoods with no access to care.
Heartworm never really lets up here, our mosquitoes barely take a season off. And free-roaming, unaltered dogs drive bites and pack problems that put every neighbor at risk, whether they own a pet or not.
All of it comes from the same place. Too many unfixed, unvaccinated animals in places with no vet nearby. Getting spay/neuter and vaccines into those neighborhoods is the fix for all of it at once.
That is not a pet perk. That is public health.
We do not run a bake sale to spray for mosquitoes or keep the water safe. We fund those because they protect people. This protects people too. We just never treated it that way.
We pay either way. A little now, on purpose, or a lot later when it becomes an outbreak, a bite, or a shelter full of animals nobody could afford to fix.
At Animal-Angels Foundation we run free spay/neuter and our High-Impact Clinics because the need is real and somebody has to. The faucet is running. We are done just mopping.
We keep families together, and we keep neighborhoods healthy.
