When I edit a photo, I ask myself what story am I trying to tell with this moment? Some photos are just epic and the answer is obvious. Others are more subdued and this is one of them. This story is of the rhythms of nature, the natural world we were meant to be part of. The heat of the afternoon, the distant then close sounds of hooves on the hard desert floor, dust clouds in their wake. Dozens of wild and free mustangs tuned in to one channel, the need to fulfill what their bodies need and their togetherness in this need. The beauty and vastness of the place they call home, dotted with sagebrush and stones, seemingly never changing with time. The taste of sweat and dust then tears that such moments may soon be available only in memories and photographs. This is their story, and mine.
