Freshly harvested honeycomb squares, straight from the hive!
at Hamilton's of Ortonville, 465 Mill Street, downtown.

100% RAW, unfiltered honey contains essential nutrients, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits.

Pair honeycomb with breakfast foods. Chop small bits of honeycomb and stir them into your favorite breakfast foods, like yogurt or oatmeal. You can also serve honeycomb on pancakes or waffles. Crumbled honeycomb can also be added to batter for scones.

Eat it with cheese and crackers.

Add honeycomb to salads, sandwiches, and chilis, where you might want to taste sweetness, or alongside other cheese and fruit toppings.

Cut and drizzle it over some cheese and you've got a gourmet dessert. Or use it as a mixer or topping in ice cream. Little chunks of honeycomb can be mixed into softened ice cream or crumbled and drizzled on the top. Honeycomb is often paired with vanilla ice cream to give the ice cream a little bit of extra flavor and texture.

The Canadian cold front is the start of the wild bird migration. You might see some birds you haven't seen in a little while, including waterfowl, raptors, songbirds, and Sandhill Cranes.

Michigan is a critical stopover for millions of birds during their long journey from breeding to wintering grounds. The state's major flyways and its abundant water sources create perfect conditions for migrating animals to rest and refuel. So, make sure to keep those feeders filled!

Oats are a popular crop for deer as they provide excellent nutrition and are especially important for a nutritional boost during the winter.

Buck Forage Oats is freeze tolerant, it thrives in a variety of different soil types and weather conditions, it is resistant to disease and overgrazing and it has industry's best germination rates. Seeding rate: 100-125 lbs. per acre.

A good time to plant Buck Forage Oats is late summer, early fall. In our area that is ideally the last week of August, first week of September. This will give the seeds plenty of time to germinate and get established before winter sets in.
