Celebrating 70 Years of the Orrville Veterinary Clinic!!🎉
This year, Orrville Veterinary Clinic proudly celebrates 70 years of service to our community. It’s crazy to think that our clinic has been around for over a quarter of the time since the signing of the Declaration of Independence!
Our story began in 1956, when Dr. Jack Rogers partnered with Dr. Lamont Shultzman to establish Orrville Veterinary Clinic. What started as a predominantly farm animal practice serving Wayne and Holmes counties soon grew to include the care of beloved family pets, laying the foundation for everything we've become today.
Over the past seven decades, we've been honored to grow alongside our community. From opening our state-of-the-art North Main Street hospital in 1979, to expanding our services in equine medicine, companion animal care, surgery, diagnostics, boarding, grooming, and doggy daycare, every milestone has been driven by one goal: providing exceptional care for every animal entrusted to us.
As our practice expanded, so did our family. New veterinarians, dedicated staff members, and additional locations allowed us to serve more communities while maintaining the personalized, compassionate care that has always defined Orrville Veterinary Clinic. Today, as part of Veterinary Wellness Partners, we're proud to continue that mission with additional offices in Barberton, Canal Fulton, Medina, and Seville with a team committed to excellence, innovation, and treating every patient like family.
None of this would have been possible without the generations of clients who have trusted us with the care of their pets, horses, and farm animals. Your confidence, loyalty, and support have shaped our history and continue to inspire our future.
As we celebrate 70 years, we also celebrate the people behind this incredible journey: our founders, our veterinarians, our staff, and the countless families who have made Orrville Veterinary Clinic a part of their lives.
From all of us, thank you for allowing us to serve this community for seven decades. We look forward to caring for generations of animals and the people who love them for many years to come.

Holy cow... today is Cow Appreciation Day!! 🐮🐄

Today we're celebrating these gentle giants and the important role they play in agriculture, animal care, and our communities.

Did you know that VWP provides a wide range of veterinary services for farm animals? Our large animal veterinarians and support staff work hard every day caring for cattle and other livestock, helping to keep them healthy and thriving.

Today, we are giving a special shoutout to our incredible large animal team for all that they do, and, of course the cows!!

Some people leave a lasting impact on a practice, and Dr. Jackwood is certainly one of them.

Before Dr. Jackwood started at Orrville Veterinary Clinic, she had been working at a practice in Wooster for many years, and because she was a veterinary school classmate of Dr. Wenger's partner, Dr. Yost, they already knew about her many talents and strengths. When the owner of her practice was preparing to retire, there was a possibility of our company purchasing the practice. While this did not happen, something even better did - we convinced Judy to join our team!

From day one, she brought her compassion, professionalism, dedication, and incredible work ethic to our clients and their pets. Throughout her years with us, she has been a steady, positive presence, handling even the most challenging situations with grace and kindness.

Bringing Judy to our practice was one of the best decisions our company has ever made. She immediately went to work at OVC with all of her great skills and assets and has been a success every day since she's been here.

We thank Judy for her many years of outstanding service and care. She has touched countless lives, both human and animal, and her impact will be felt for many years to come.

Friday, July 10th will be her last day; please join us in congratulating Judy on her well-earned retirement and wishing her all the best in this exciting new chapter! ❤

We had a great time participating in the Orrville 4th of July parade on Tuesday!! 🇺🇸🎆

It was so fun passing out treats and candy, hearing comments about how awesome our float was, and being able to participate in this event for our amazing community!

Independence Day is almost here!!
Now is the perfect time to check your pet's medications and make sure you're prepared for the holiday weekend. Fireworks and other festivities can be stressful for many pets, so don't wait until the last minute to refill prescriptions or schedule an appointment.
Reminder: Our offices will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
If your pet does need a medication refill or an appointment before the holiday, please contact one of our clinics as soon as possible so that we can assure your pets have a safe and comfortable holiday!

A little fresh air, feathered friends, and great company! 🐓☀️

The other day our team was able to take a break from the usual routine and spend time feeding one of our staff member's chickens! This was a great time to recharge and connect with one another in a different setting.

Did you know that you can help prevent Kennel Cough with the Bordetella vaccine? Call us today!

Have you noticed that your dog has a persistent, dry cough? If so, it could be kennel cough.

Kennel cough is an infectious and highly contagious bronchitis of dogs that is characterized by a harsh, hacking cough and is spread through aerosol droplets.

Symptoms to watch for:
- dry, hacking cough
- retching/vomiting
- sneezing
- eye or nasal discharge

If you notice any other symptoms, such as fever or loss of appetite, you should contact your veterinarian right away.

Much like human colds, there is no full protection from kennel cough. However, vaccines, such as Bordetella, can partially protect your dog from the viruses and bacteria that cause kennel cough.

Help protect your pup by staying up to date on recommended vaccinations, avoiding contact with sick dogs, and contacting your vet if symptoms develop.🐾
