Just 5 months ago, Bianca was battling congestive heart failure and recovering from her TEER procedure at CFVC. Today, she’s thriving — brighter, stronger, and enjoying life again.

Cases like Bianca’s are a powerful reminder of how advanced, minimally-invasive procedures like TEER can dramatically improve both quality of life and long-term outcomes for pets with severe mitral valve disease.

What once felt like a heartbreaking diagnosis now comes with real hope for many families. We are so grateful to be able to offer these life-changing advancements here at CFVC and to celebrate moments like this alongside Bianca’s family.

Today is National Hug Your Cat Day! Meet Percy! This sweet bundle of love always melts our hearts here in the office!

Have you ever heard of oxytocin, often called the “cuddle hormone”? ❤️ When people spend time snuggling or bonding with their cats, oxytocin can actually be released in both the human and the cat. This shared hormone release helps strengthen the bond between pets and their owners, while also creating feelings of comfort, trust, and attachment.

It’s one of the many reasons why time with our furry companions can feel so calming and rewarding for both sides of the relationship. Dogs experience similar bonding effects too, but since today is Hug Your Cat Day… we’re letting the cats have the spotlight. 😸

We love our feline patients here at CFVC! Whether your cat is the ultimate lap companion or proudly marches to the beat of their own drum, today is the perfect excuse to give them a little extra love and attention.

Some patients leave paw prints on our hearts from the moment they walk through the door, and Seaver is definitely one of them!

This month, we’re excited to feature Seaver and celebrate the journey he has been on with his family and our cardiology team. From diagnostics and monitoring to continued follow-up care, every step of the process is focused on helping pets feel their best while giving families more quality time together.

Heart disease can feel overwhelming when owners first hear the diagnosis, but stories like Seaver’s are a reminder that there is hope, support, and advanced care available. Watching patients continue to enjoy life, interact with their families, and keep their personalities shining through is one of the greatest rewards in veterinary cardiology.

At CFVC, we believe every patient has a story worth sharing. Seaver’s sweet spirit, resilience, and loving family made him the perfect June patient feature. We are so grateful to be part of his journey and can’t wait to continue cheering him on.

Did you know, not every cough is the heart—but the heart feels every breath?
May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month. It’s not uncommon for cases referred as cardiac disease to ultimately be respiratory in origin. Conditions like asthma—more commonly called chronic bronchitis in dogs and cats—create inflammation in the airways. That inflammation limits airflow, which can reduce oxygen levels in the bloodstream. In our world, we’re always asking: Is it the heart, the lungs… or both?

And when oxygen drops, the heart has to work harder. Over time, even mild respiratory disease can begin to impact cardiovascular health—especially in patients with underlying heart conditions. Clinically, it’s not always straightforward. Coughing, labored breathing, even fatigue—these can overlap between heart and lung disease, which is why proper diagnosis matters.

If your pet is showing signs like persistent coughing, wheezing, or difficulty breathing, early evaluation can make a meaningful difference.

Some hearts serve, and some serve beside them. This Memorial Day, we honor not only the heroes who gave their lives in service—but also the military working dogs who stood beside them with unwavering loyalty.

In our world, we measure heart rate, rhythm, and strength. But the hearts we remember today showed something even greater—courage, devotion, and sacrifice. From protecting lives to saving them, these bonds run deeper than words… and stronger than any heartbeat we can measure.
