There are three dogs on the Last Chance (Euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. Oliver and Oreo are RESCUE ONLY and need fosters and a rescue. Pirate is available for adoption (with a behavioral consultation) or rescue. All three dogs must have placement by the deadline of 6 am Wednesday, March 26 or they will be euthanized. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive per dog to rescue partners.

⭐️ Pirate came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 2/9 due to the owner no longer having time to take care of him.
Pirate is sweet and social towards people, is easily handled, and knows sit and down.

Unfortunately, after being the victim in a kennel fight, Pirate has displayed reactivity towards other dogs and has not been able to be paired.

Pirate is about 4 years old, weighs 62 pounds, is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Pirate is available for either adoption (with a behavior team consultation) or rescue placement.

⭐️ Oreo came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 2/19 due to the owner not being about to handle his size. Oreo is noted to be selective with people, having friendly interactions with some people, but weary and guarded with others. While initially paired with another dog, Oreo has recently displayed reactivity towards other dogs.

Oreo is 4 years old, weighs 88 pounds, is neutered and tested positive for heart worm disease (treatment costs are sponsored by the shelter).

Shelter Link - https://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A562822

⭐️Oliver was surrendered to the shelter on 2/24. He was initially very nervous in the new environment but was friendly, easy to handle, and gently sought affection by nudging handlers hand. He has been easily paired with 3 different dogs.

Oliver’s former owners state that he was previously friendly with children, but that he bit an infant on the head. He previously had two incidents where he bit another dog in the presence of food, each resulting in punctures.

Oliver has a large mass on the left side of his chest that will need to be checked by a full service vet.

Oliver is 10 years old, weighs 95 pounds, tested negative for heartworm disease, and is neutered.

A volunteer has generously offered to donate $5,000 to Oliver’s medical care.

Medical Deadline 5PM Wednesday March 26!! 🚨

DIAMOND - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in WD67. This dog weighs approximately 47.0 lbs.,is 14Y and has tested positive for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to other reasons.

*Qualifies for $250 rescue partner incentive*

This old girl was originally part of a confiscation and the owner opted to surrender to our shelter. She is geriatric and has an abnormal gait which we can't determine if it is due to age, the fact that she is overweight, because she allegedly fell down the steps a few days before being impounded (according to owner) or a combination of all the factors. Also has cataracts, osteoarthritis, HW+ (Tx is sponsored), dental disease and mammary neoplasia.

Friendly geriatric dog. Will yowl.

VERY HAPPY, TAIL WAGS, SCREAMS FOR ATTENTION

Medical observations:
PE Findings during Tech Appt w/ DVM: Paretic (weak), erratic walking, holds body weight with forelimbs (which bough when walking). No crepitus in knees, hips are very loose/unstable and pet falls over due to being very excited while trying to walk/run. Very friendly and slightly over conditioned (BCS 7/9). Does not elicit a pain response w/ manipulation of exam - very bouncy happy pet. Mammary left caudal chain- nodular growth approximate 3 x 2 cm.

Recommendation: Foster/Hospice care due to multiple health conditions (heartworm positive, musculoskeletal abnormalities - osteoarthritis, cataracts, overweight, dental disease, geriatric, mammary neoplasia)

She was picked up with other dogs, which makes us think she gets along with others well.

More information about her: From her foster- House trained, enjoys creating her own back scratches on the grass, likes to be near her human, does not whine when alone, barks at strangers, comes back when called, does not beg for food and has small appetite, a little wobbly in the hind quarters, very happy girl.
Please let us know if you can help DIAMOND!

APPLE PIE - This dog is a spayed female. This dog is currently located in WD58. This dog weighs approximately 50.6 lbs.,is 9Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to other reasons.

***6Th POST, UPDATED MEDICAL, NEEDS PLACEMENT BY WEDNESDAY 3/12*** Meet Apple Pie! She is very friendly with people and easily handled by staff, but doesnt do well with other animals. She has been here since November 2024 and could benfit from placement. She has had leg swelling which started yesterday and is worse today, with swollen lymph nodes (picture in comments). She needs placement BY WEDNESDAY if she stays stable, if she worsens she may need an outcome sooner. She is likely a hospice case and could benefit from some TLC for however long she has left. Photo of her leg HERE

ABC 175, 180, and 181 went to reassess A560252. A560252 allowed leashing easily and walked well on leash. In yard, A560252 seeked social with all handlers and rolled over for belly rubs. A560252 allowed full handling with no issues. Very affectionate. 181 brought out neutered male and at first A560252 did not notice, but once she did notice she went to the fence, snarled, and muzzled punched. A560252 was able to be redirected easily and would rather seek social with handlers. A560252 was placed back in kennel with no issue.

Unfortunately Cutie Patootie, Rocket and Nimbus did not receive rescue holds and were euthanized. 💔 Rest in peace sweet angels. 🌈

There are three dogs on the Last Chance (Euthanasia) list at Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, Florida. They are RESCUE ONLY and needs rescue placement by Wednesday March 12 at 6am or they will be euthanized. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive to rescue partners.

⭐️Cutie Patootie was found on 11/21, chained up and emaciated as law enforcement was conducting a search warrant on a property. He was adopted on 12/10 and returned 3 days later as the adopted stated that he would “go after the cats in the home”.

Cutie Patootie is extremely people friendly and easy to handle, wants to be your only dog for now. His prior adopter noted that he did well with the 1 and 5 year old grandchildren.

Throughout his long stay at the shelter, Cutie’s reactivity towards other dogs has increased. He needs a calm environment to relax and decompress.

Cutie Patootie is about 5 years old, weighs 44 pounds, is neutered and heart worm positive (treatment costs are covered by the shelter).

Shelter Link - https://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A559992

⭐️Rocket came into the shuttler on 2/6 as a stray. He was adopted on 2/11 and returned 6 days later. The adopter stated that “the dog was not about to be contained, destructive and nipped at the 10 year old in the home (did not break skin).”.

Rocket has displayed unsocialized behavior during his time at OCAS and has recently been showing signs of mental deterioration.

Rocket is noted to be fearful in the kennel and not walk well on leash, but once he is in the play yard he opens up and likes to play with toys/chase and the mental deterioration has led to fixation on toys. Rocket needs someone to help with his behavior challenges outside of the shelter environment.

Rocket is about 3 years old, weighs 34 pounds, is neutered and has tested negative for heartworm.

Shelter Link - https://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A564289

⭐️Nimbus came into the shelter on 2/21, surrendered by someone who adopted him from a different shelter after there was a moderate bite to the adopters face when he took a bone away from the dog. The original shelter refused to take Nimbus back. Per adoption notes from yhe original shelter, Nimbus’s original owner surrendered due to landlord restrictions and reported that Nimbus is housebroken, friendly with adults, children over 6 and did not have any other animals in the home.

Nimbus has displayed good behavior at OCAS. During assessment, Nimbus allowed leashing easily. He was aloof and independent in the play yard. When staff tested for resource guarding at the shelter, Nimbus did not react and no aggression was noted. He allowed handling but did not seek social. Nimbus is rescue only due to concern of possible resource guarding in the home and willingness to bite.

Nimbus is about 1 year old, weighs 46 pounds, is neutered and has tested negative for heartworm.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

There is one dog on the Last Chance (Euthanasia) list at Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, Florida. He is RESCUE ONLY and needs rescue placement by Wednesday March 5 at 6am or he will be euthanized. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive to rescue partners.

Sourdough came to the shelter mid-January as a stray. He quickly became a favorite of staff and volunteers. Sourdough is very social and affectionate and will rub up against or gently paw handlers to get more attention. He was tested with a female dog and briefly sniffed appropriately and then quickly lost interest.

Sourdough has a heart murmur, severe patchy hair loss suspected to be allergy dermatitis and bilateral cherry eyes with crusted eye discharge. As a result of the bilateral cherry eyes, Sourdough is expected to be vision impaired.

Sourdough is 11 years old, weighs about 50 pounds, and has tested negative for heartworm disease.

Additional info from the shelter: Sourdough recently went to foster care, slipped away from his foster parent and was difficult to capture (understandable given his vision impairment and that people were chasing him). He is back in the shelter now. The foster parent has offered to continue fostering, for a rescue group. If interested in pursuing this, please reach out to the rescue coordinator for their contact info.

He is well known in our shelter and we have discussed him at multiple points throughout his stay. None of his medical issues individually are irreparable, but combined, and with his age in mind, he needs more care than we can provide here.

FREEDOM UPDATE! Libi has left the shelter with A Better Life-Pet Rescue! Please see their post for freedom pictures and how to honor pledges!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1XmuKm2G7n/?mibextid=wwXIfr

🚨Urgent! Needs placement by 5PM Saturday March 1! 🚨

LIBI - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in CLIND35. This dog weighs approximately 30.4 lbs.,is 4Y This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

Meet Libi!

HER ANEMIA IS NOT IMPROVING! She is having collapsing episodes and a new heart murmur was discovered.

She was captured by one Field Enforcement Officer after someone reported a dog being sick and injured (limping) in the neighborhood of W Silver Star in Ocoee.

She is anemic, infected with intestinal parasites and a large spleen and an enlarged heart were noticed upon X-rays. She was not spayed when scheduled due to her pale gums and now she is on meds for an upper respiratory infection. On February 12 she was involved in a kennel fight, where she seemed to be the victim as she was found unconscious laying laterally with blood on face while her kennel mate was gulping down food that someone left in a paper tray. From this experience, she is now eating only when no one is around and the stress of the kennel population is affecting her.

Please let us know if you can help LIBI!

2/20 Update - Smooshie has left the shelter with Polk County Bully Project! Please see their post with details on how to honor pledges!
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1VPsPsHbrx/?mibextid=wwXIfr

2/19 Update - Smooshie has a rescue hold. If you are the rescue that pulled Smooshie please message us a freedom picture so that we can update!

We are heartbroken to share that Frogger, Angelica, and Benedict Cumberbark were euthanized. 💔 Rest in peace sweet angels 🤍🌈

There are 4 dogs on the Last Chance (Euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. They are RESCUE ONLY and need fosters and rescues by their deadline of 6 am Wednesday, February 19 or they will be euthanized. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive per dog to rescue partners. Please help SHARE them.

⭐️ Frogger originally came to the shelter more than a year ago as a stray. He was adopted about a month later and then in November 2024 he showed back up as a stray and the former adopter was unable to be reached.

Frogger is very excited to get out of his kennel and is easily leashed but pulls hard on the way to the yard. He is friendly and very food motivated. He loves chasing the red ball around the yard and climbing on the play equipment!

Frogger is very high energy and chooses to independently chase the ball until a handler redirects and offers another alternative. He has not shown any guarding behaviors and is able to break focus when a handler gives him an alternative outlet. Frogger has been getting frustrated in his kennel as he is unable to get the physical and mental stimulation he craves!

Frogger has been paired with several different dogs during his time at the shelter.

Frogger is 3 years old, weighs 43 pounds, is neutered, and has tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A504351

⭐️Angelica was brought to the shelter as a stray on 1/29. It was noted in the field that she was very friendly with children but fearful of adults and being leashed.

Upon arriving to intake at the shelter she was friendly and easily handled. Volunteers noted that she walks decently well on leash and enjoys playing with the water hose.

Initially Angelica was easily paired, showing more interest in affection from the handlers than the other dog. There was later an altercation in the kennel and she was seen pinning the other dog to the ground. There were no injuries and the pair was separated. Angelica has not been repaired and has shown increasing reactively when walking through the kennels. Staff has had a difficult time taking her out and putting her back into her kennel due to her high reactivity to both people and dogs. However once she is out in the yard she relaxes and is easily handled.

Angelica is 1 year old, weighs 50 pounds, is spayed and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A563712

⭐️ Benedict Cumberbark was picked up as a stray on 2/1. During intake, he allowed leashing but appeared to be fear reactive, gator rolling, lunging and growling. Upon further behavior assessments, Benedict Cumberbark appears to be under socialized and is fearful and timid. He will allow pets once he is warmed up to handler but stays guarded and leary. He is still just a young pup, who has not had proper socialization with humans or dogs, at no fault of his own.

Benedict Cumberbark is 1 year old and about 40 pounds. He is an intact male and has not been tested for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - https://www.ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A563910

⭐️ Smooshie was brought to the shelter as a stray on 2/4. During intake, he was easy to leash and handle. Smooshie was unable to be paired at intake due to mounting other dogs and not taking correction.

During assessment, Smooshie allowed leashing and handling and was friendly towards humans. When overstimulated, Smooshie can be jumpy and tends to attempt to mount handlers. He becomes hyper aware and fixates on external stimuli.
