ODTC would like to honor the memory of our dear friend Ken Kincaid at our December Obedience and Rally trials at the convention center. We will be offering special trophies in his honor at the shows, and we are currently collecting donations to support the effort. We welcome donations in Ken's memory from those who would like to contribute. If you want to donate, we can accept cash, check or PayPal. You can bring cash or checks made out to Orlando Dog Training Club (please write Ken Kincaid trophy in the memo or on your envelope) to our building during normal class hours, or you can mail a check to the club, care of Rose Oesterle, 2667 Derbyshire Road, Maitland, FL 32751-3665. Did you know that we're celebrating 75 years in 2026? It's true! To help mark the occasion, we'll be profiling some of our members and instructors here on the page so you can get to know the people that make Orlando Dog Training Club run smoothly!

This week, meet Beth Schmidt, the board's Recording Secretary. You'll see Beth at board meetings, at classes and sometimes running our Saturday Pay 2 Play sessions. We asked Beth to share a little about herself, what got her hooked on dog training, and what advice she would offer a newcomer:

"My current dogs are Ricky and Kissy, both Border Collies.
I started in dog sports around 1980 when my Mom bought me a Siberian Husky puppy. We took her to a class in the town where I grew up in New Jersey. Fortunately for me, it was a very good class run by AKC judge Kathy Walker’s Mom. Kathy and her sister Terry recently moved to Florida. That class got me hooked, and I completed several UDs, a UDX and an OTCh.

I took a break from Obedience shows when I got married. After I got divorced, I decided to give agility a try and enjoyed doing that for a long while, earning many titles, including a MACH. Obedience trials are my favorite, and that is what I am concentrating on currently.

I love being a part of ODTC, as it has given me the opportunity to make so many friends that share the joy of owning, training and showing dogs. I love seeing everyone so proud and full of love for their dogs.

My word of advice to someone new to dog sports would be to enjoy your relationship with your dog each and every day. I believe the dogs do the very best they can for us, and we must appreciate that. If they struggle with an exercise, it is just an opportunity to work through it together with them. Never give up!"

Hi all, we have had some very annoying people posting scammy and spammy posts trying to sell "tshirts, mugs and hoodies" of the Orlando Dog Training Club t-shirt logo/design. Please don't click any links for items for sale that are not from the club, or at least from someone you know to be a member of the club. We're hiding and deleting as we see them. But this gives us a great excuse to reshare the link to our actual, legitimate 75th anniversary t-shirt fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts goes back to the club. 💙

Some fun with one of our Advanced Tricks students. If you want to teach your dog to do THIS someday, start with our basic CGC/Tricks classes. You can earn your CGC and Trick Dog Novice titles, and you’ll start your journey to more complex tricks later. It’s so much FUN!

We have a special event taking place at our club building on Monday, April 27. Join us for a talk about how you can plan for your dogs in the event that you’re no longer able to care for them. This event takes place at 7 PM at our training building at 6357 All American Blvd., Orlando. This session is FREE to the public. The club's regular monthly meeting will follow. Join us!
