With the South Steens gather in full swing I have decided to try and pick the page back up after being gone awhile! A lot has changed! I had a baby November 2023 and have began the last few months to start back up our South Steens training. They have also had some glow ups I will share! With all thanks to my sister in law and Brother In law for letting us trailer out to use their round pen. As well as my brother in law for helping get rides on the stangs!

Some updates on the horses!
Reina now has 3 rides on her I believe. Shona was finally able to go this past Sunday and get a ride on her after not being ridden in over a year. LC has 2 rides I think. Now for some sad news about Ranger I did decide to find him a new home. It was the hardest decision ever, but I believe his new home is a great one. He will hopefully be her new drill team mount and I can’t wait to see what he can accomplish! We are staying in touch and if anything were to change he will find his way right back here!

Ranger on his first pony ride!

We took Ranger on his first pony ride the other night! He did amazing. I didn’t think we were even gonna make it out of the driveway. These geldings have fought through the fence for a year and a half. But they both were able to keep to themselves for the ride. We got a little jumpy at the neighbors running horses and the cars that passed by but all in all he did great.

I don’t think I ever made a birthday post for Scout! He turned one in March! He is turning into such a beautiful boy! And in honor of having his brain surgery next Monday here’s a little transformation🥳🥳

Have I mentioned I love this horse 😂 These are literally her first moments ever seeing this obstacle, I used to have pool noodles on it but changed it up a bit. I couldn’t video when we first walked into the field up to it because she set eyes on it and fast walk/sprinted to it to see what this majestical thing was. Then walked through it like it was nothing. She is such a curious loving little gal.

Ranger Ranger Ranger…
I’ve only worked on this a handful of times but decided to really accomplish this today. He is such a nervous guy when it comes to his sides and then add the spray bottle. Everything new with him starts at his face because that’s what he’s most comfortable with. He’s never had a problem with me spraying his face but moving anywhere past that was a big problem and lots of turning in circles. He looks cool as a cucumber in the video but man was it a lot of circles to get here. Let’s see if we can retain this next time we try!
