Griff, a police dog with the Hilliard Division of Police, was enjoying a day off with his family when he suddenly began choking on a ball. His family rushed him to MedVet Hilliard, where he arrived unable to stand and not breathing on his own.
Our ER team quickly removed the ball and immediately began providing oxygen, cooling support, IV fluids, and other supportive care. Griff’s handler and fellow officers stayed by his side as our team closely monitored him throughout the night.
Thankfully, Griff responded quickly to treatment. His oxygen levels and bloodwork improved, his lungs showed no signs of complications, and he was cleared to return to work later that week.
From a frightening emergency to back on the job in just a few days. We’re so glad to see this hardworking K9 back on his paws. 🐾
