Upcoming intro to GRC Class!
This class will start on 1/12/2026 and run for 6 weeks. It is $125 and will be limited to 6 dogs.
What is GRC? GRC stands for "Gameness Relationship Control". It is a dog sport created by Jay Jack. This sport is all about creating control around play and drive sports. It is incredibly good for dogs that have a strong play drive for toys, dogs that may have a hard time finding an "off switch" and settling, and dogs who get really amped up when playing with their owners or in other high energy environments. The basis of GRC is to add control to a dog that has high drive and an intense desire to play. If your dog likes conflict, they will love this sport and the outlet it will provide for them! The activities usually involved in GRC are Spring Pole, Slat Mill, Weight Pull, and Wall Climb.
In GRC dogs must pass a Social Responsibility test before they can compete in the drive sports. The SR test steps can be found here:

What we will be going over in class:
- A brief introduction to the sport and what is entails
- Building food drive via food based play
- Proper Tug and teaching an out command/end of game marker
- Teaching calmness before and after play
- Loose leash walking
- Front, middle, down and stay commands
- Free behavior (liberty)
- Spring Pole
- Slat Mill
- People greetings
- Other skills as they come up
During class, dogs will come out one at a time to work, which makes it a great fit for dogs who struggle with reactivity towards other dogs. We may also remove other class members from the room if a human reactive dog is being worked. Because we cannot guarantee available kennel space here at the building, you MUST be prepared to bring your own kennel. Please bring both kibble and high value food for your dog, as well as their favorite toys to each class. During the class, dogs may be on whatever tool you need to help them be under control (slip/transitional leash, e-collar, muzzle, etc.), but the goal of GRC is to work up to being able to manage your dog on a 6 foot leash and flat buckle collar. We will work at the pace of each individual dog, but each week we should be building off of skills learned in the previous week in order to work up to using the spring pole and slat mill.
The cost of this class will be $125. At this time it will only be available to 1 dog per household and will be capped at 6 attendees. Please shoot us a text at 801-735-1978 to sign up.
