Today we hold space for a very special horse.

In loving memory of Endo the Blind. A horse whose story, spirit and courage touched many hearts. Horses like Endo remind us that sight is not what makes a horse remarkable. It is their trust, their bravery, and the quiet bond they build with the humans who love them.
Endo showed the world that even without sight, a horse can still lead with strength, kindness and incredible heart.

For Endo -

They say a horse runs with the wind,
But you ran with something more.
A courage deep within your soul
That none could ignore.
Though darkness touched your eyes,
Your spirit still shone bright,
Teaching hearts around you
That love is stronger than sight.
You trusted, you tried,
You carried on each day,
Leaving hoofprints on the hearts
Of those who watched your way.
Now the fields are endless,
The grass forever green,
And somewhere beyond the horizon
You run where light has always been.

Run free, beautiful Endo.

A horse who will never be forgotten.

Leaving a pet behind is no longer just viewed as an act of neglect in Washington β€” it can now carry serious legal consequences.

Under state law, pet owners are responsible for ensuring their animals are properly cared for. Walking away from that responsibility by dumping a pet on the street, abandoning it during a move, or leaving it without food, water, or shelter can lead to criminal charges.

Authorities treat these situations seriously because abandoned animals often suffer the most. Many are left confused and vulnerable, forced to survive on their own without the care they once depended on. When investigators determine that an animal has been deliberately abandoned, the owner may face penalties under animal cruelty laws, which can include fines, possible jail time, and restrictions on owning animals in the future.

The law also addresses cases where animals are left behind at veterinary clinics or boarding facilities. If an owner fails to return for their pet after receiving proper notice, the animal may legally be classified as abandoned. In those cases, caretakers are allowed to place the pet with a shelter or rescue organization so it can eventually find a new home.

Across the United States, animal shelters take in millions of unwanted or abandoned pets each year. Many arrive frightened, malnourished, or injured after being left to fend for themselves. Laws like the one in Washington are designed to prevent that suffering by holding owners accountable for the animals that rely on them.

For many households, pets are beloved companions and part of the family. But when someone chooses to walk away from that responsibility, the consequences can now extend far beyond moral judgment β€” they may also include criminal prosecution.
