We had a very productive staff meeting today. Absolutely nothing was accomplished. Several fuzzy employees wandered off and nobody could agree on who was in charge.

Morale, however, remains exceptionally high with the unexpected appearance of the sun.🐑😂 Just another day at ChamBurn Farm, where the food is farm-raised, the accommodations are lovely, and the personalities abound.

The beauty of Small Farmers partnering together is creating a resilient local food system that fills our bellies and our hearts! We just received our weekly Veggie CSA from Full Cellar Farm Full Cellar Farm. Such a beautiful spread of produce!

I made a soup with FCF escarole, carrots, and onions with fresh garlic sausage from our pasture, cannellini beans, and random pasta from the pantry.

A true "kitchen sink" soup anyone can make in 30 minutes!

A reminder to our Eastside PDX customers that Sunday evening is the cutoff for ordering for Wednesday Pick-up sites and Thursday Home Delivery. The freezer is full of pork, chicken, lamb, ground beef, duck, and turkey!

This week I'm in Bend attending The Business School 4 Ranchers Ranching For Profit with 55 attendees from all over the U.S.. It's an intensive business course focused on ranching and farming operations. I am learning a lot... it's nice to have some business principles I've learned in the distant past being brought back to life as it applies to farming... and of course I'm learning a ton of new material! Needless to say my brain is on a "slow fry"! 🤪 The connections I am making with my peers are priceless!

I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Tyler Robb of Strange-Bird PDX Strange-bird Restaurant at SE 21st/Clinton in Portland. It is a new neighborhood Restaurant that opened in June. He will be serving up our Rabbit for an upcoming special event dinner at the restaurant. He was a pleasure to talk to and I look forward to collaborating with him in the future. November invites us to slow down. The harvest has been gathered, the landscape is changing, and nature is gradually becoming quieter. The chickens, however, have not received the memo. 🐓

1. 🍗 Thanksgiving Turkeys
We are SOLD OUT of the 12-15 lb turkeys, leaving the two larger sizes to choose from. 16-18 lbs. and 18-22+ lbs. remain options. Pickup is the weekend before Thanksgiving, $7.99/lb. (less your $30 deposit). Want it spatchcocked for faster, more even roasting? Add $8 for cutting.

2. Immersive Experience: Grounding, a Sound Bath, and more.
November 14th
Join us for a cozy evening at ChamBurn Farm.🌾
🍂 We'll begin with a short tour of the farm, then warm up with hot c***r and a seasonal snack provided by Chef Jim of ChamBurn Farm.
🍂 Angela of Breathe Yoga will open the evening's practice with a grounding, inviting you to settle into your body, connect with the earth beneath you, and arrive fully in the moment. 🧘‍♀️
🍂 Then, Gabrielle of Hearthsounds Sound Healing will guide you into a 75-minute immersive sound bath. Singing bowls, gong, chimes, and other instruments will surround you in layers of sound and vibration, blending with the natural sounds of the farm: the crackle of the fire, the rustling of the evening air, and the occasional call of an animal. 🔔

3. Donkeys + the Holiday = Donkey Photo Experience.
Our donkey fan club is growing rapidly. The boys couldn't be more thrilled. They put their snouts together and came up with a way to make themselves even more famous: a photoshoot with you. Cost $150, up to six people. Have a 15-minute mini professional portrait photo session with one of our donkeys decorated for the Holidays. Stick around to enjoy the other farm animals, warm c***r, and a snack. You'll receive four digital photos to use however you like.
