Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter serves the citizens of Orangeburg County South Carolina, helps to educate the public and enforce County ordinances on animal welfare. Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter is responsible for picking up animals in the county that are lost or homeless. We strive to get animals into rescues by working with rescue groups to find placement of these an

imals. We work to ensure that animals in the entire county are being treated properly and this includes investigating cruelty charges and working with law enforcement to prosecute these cases. Please note that this shelter does not adopt to the public, but if you’re interested in one of our animals, we invite you to fill out an adoption application through a 501c-3 rescue or local rescue such as the Orangeburg SPCA and they will review your adoption process from there.

This gentle soul is Patsy, a beautiful white female pup who’s had a rough start to life. With no place to call home, Patsy spent her days wandering the streets, searching for safety and love. Now, she’s been at the shelter far too long, patiently waiting for someone to give her the second chance she deserves. 💔

Patsy is calm, docile, and kind-hearted. Though she started off shy, each day she opens up a little more—showing us the sweet, affectionate dog she truly is. All she needs is a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe, bloom, and be loved for who she is.

Meet Maeve 🐾💔

This is Maeve — our newest arrival at the shelter. She was found abandoned in a shed, left without food, water, or any way to call for help. Thankfully, she was discovered just in time and brought to safety.

Maeve is currently on a hold until the case is finished and as we assess her health and well-being, but once she’s released, she’ll be in urgent need of a rescue placement or foster home.

Despite what she’s been through, Maeve has a quiet strength about her. She deserves a second chance in a home where she’ll never be forgotten again.

A gentle soul still waiting for her furever family...

Oakley is a sweet girl with the softest eyes and the biggest heart. She’s been patiently waiting, day after day, watching other dogs find their homes — while she gets passed by.

She doesn’t understand why no one stops for her. She’s calm. She’s loving. She just wants someone to love her back.

Oakley isn’t flashy. She’s not a puppy. But she is loyal, kind, and full of love to give. All she needs is a chance and time is not on her side.

💔 Every day she gets a little quieter, a little more withdrawn. It’s like she’s wondering, “Why not me?”

Meet Zeus – Male Great Pyrenees
Zeus has been fending for himself for months without anyone caring for him properly and is in desperate need of help. 💔

Despite his rough start, Zeus is a sweet, gentle soul who begins to open up once you spend some time with him. He’s a big, beautiful boy who just wants to feel safe and loved again.

Zeus weighs 85.5 lbs, estimated to be around 4 years old and is Heartworm Positive. He doesn't seem to mind other animals and would possibly make a great farm dog.

He needs a rescue ASAP – someone patient, kind, and willing to give him a second chance.

Ruby is a stunning red and white Heeler mix with soulful eyes that have seen too much disappointment in the world. She's been sitting in her shelter kennel day after day, watching people go by.

She’s sweet. She’s smart. She’s quietly begging for someone to see her, love her, and take her home.

But her time is ticking down.

Ruby doesn’t understand what she did wrong. All she wants is to be part of someone’s life—a warm bed, a kind voice, a chance to run free and never look back at these shelter walls.

💔 Monroe is still waiting…

Monroe is a beautiful brindle bully mix female with the sweetest soul—and she’s been stuck in the shelter for far too long. She’s a gentle, loving girl who lights up anytime someone stops to give her attention… but those moments are rare, and her days are mostly spent alone, waiting behind a kennel door that never opens just for her.

This precious girl craves affection. She leans in for cuddles, gives the softest eyes, and just wants to be near someone who sees her for more than her breed or her past. Monroe doesn’t deserve to keep fading in the background while others get their chance. 💔

She’s in desperate need of a rescue or foster who can give her a soft bed, some peace, and the love she’s been aching for. Monroe deserves to know what it’s like to be chosen, to be safe, to be home.

Monroe is estimated to be around 1-2 years old, Heartworm NEGATIVE and weighs 46 lbs. Very sociable with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats.

Meet Brandy, a gentle senior soul who has given her whole life to loving humans…..only to find herself behind shelter walls in her golden years, with no family to call her own.

Brandy is a sweet, quiet girl — calm, affectionate, and so deserving of comfort and love. She watches every visitor walk past her kennel, hoping someone will stop… but no one ever does.

She's been waiting, and waiting, and still… no home, no foster, no rescue.

Shelters are no place for seniors. Brandy should be curled up on a soft bed, not lying on cold concrete. Every day here is a silent heartbreak for her.

Brandy is a lab mix female, weighs around 60 lbs and is Heartworm NEGATIVE!! She is estimated to be around 6 years old.

Do you have some free time during the weekdays and a love for animals? We’re looking for passionate volunteers to help care for our adorable dogs!

What you’ll do:

✅️Walk, play, and socialize with the dogs 🐕 and cats 🐈
✅️Assist with feeding and grooming
✅️Help clean and organize the shelter

When:
🕣Weekdays Mon - Fri
Flexible hours, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

This poor pup was found, skinny and struggling to survive, near the Edisto Gardens in Orangeburg, SC. 💔
