Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter serves the citizens of Orangeburg County South Carolina, helps to educate the public and enforce County ordinances on animal welfare. Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter is responsible for picking up animals in the county that are lost or homeless. We strive to get animals into rescues by working with rescue groups to find placement of these an

imals. We work to ensure that animals in the entire county are being treated properly and this includes investigating cruelty charges and working with law enforcement to prosecute these cases. Please note that this shelter does not adopt to the public, but if you’re interested in one of our animals, we invite you to fill out an adoption application through a 501c-3 rescue or local rescue such as the Orangeburg SPCA and they will review your adoption process from there.

NEW INTAKE ALERT 📢
Louis & Lois – 6-Month-Old Bully Mix Siblings on Hold

These two sweet babies, Louis and Lois, were found left in an abandoned building off Whittaker Parkway, left behind by a suspected owner who had been using the space to house them. Their owner’s location is currently unknown, and no one has come forward to claim them.

💔 Just 6 months old, these adorable Bully-mix littermates have already experienced more hardship than any puppy should. Despite everything, they remain gentle, curious, and eager for affection.

Both dogs are currently on a mandatory 21-day hold to allow time for an owner to step forward. If no one comes forward, they will become eligible for placement.

⏲️ Hold End: December 10, 2025

📍 If you have any information about their owner, or if you’re a 501c-3 rescue willing to help once their legal window closes, please reach out to our office.

Please share to help get Louis and Lois the visibility they need. These pups deserve a safe, loving future. ❤️🐾

🚨 FOUND PUPPY – NEEDS RESCUE HELP! 🚨

Meet Cassie, a young brindle-and-white female bully puppy, about 6 months old and roughly 15–17 lbs. This sweet girl had been spotted around the community down in Santee, SC and was becoming quite a handful for residents—not because she’s bad, but because she’s scared, unsure of people, and clearly not used to human interaction.

Cassie needs compassion, patience, and a safe place to land. She deserves a chance to learn what love and security feel like. We’re urgently looking for a rescue group or experienced foster who can help her decompress, build trust, and get the care she needs.

If you’re a rescue, foster, or someone with experience working with fearful pups, please reach out. Sharing this post also helps tremendously!

Let’s get Cassie the second chance she deserves. ❤️🐾

‼️IN NEED OF A RESCUE / ABANDOMENT‼️
Our Animal Control officers received a call late on Friday afternoon about dogs that had been abandoned for over 3 weeks with no one caring for them. When officers arrived on scene, they found 7 dogs that were cowering in fear, emaciated and showing signs of near starvation. These dogs are going to need a special hand with unconditional love and care to help them learn to trust people again.

All of the dogs were seized from the property and transported back to the shelter.

Now, they need a 501c-3 rescue that can help them find a way out of the shelter. Is there any 501c-3 rescue that can help these poor dogs??

Please reach out to our office. 📞 Call: 803-534-0045 or Email 📧: [email protected].

Any donations can go to Pawsitively Orangeburg or Venmo:

The case is still under investigation at this time.
