Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter serves the citizens of Orangeburg County South Carolina, helps to educate the public and enforce County ordinances on animal welfare. Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter is responsible for picking up animals in the county that are lost or homeless. We strive to get animals into rescues by working with rescue groups to find placement of these an

imals. We work to ensure that animals in the entire county are being treated properly and this includes investigating cruelty charges and working with law enforcement to prosecute these cases. Please note that this shelter does not adopt to the public, but if you’re interested in one of our animals, we invite you to fill out an adoption application through a 501c-3 rescue or local rescue such as the Orangeburg SPCA and they will review your adoption process from there.

🚨 TRANSPORT NEEDED FOR DOLLY TOMORROW! 🚨

Our sweet Dolly, our pregnant girl, has been given a chance at a fresh start! ❤️🐾 She has a rescue waiting for her in North Carolina, but now we need help getting this precious mama-to-be there safely tomorrow. 🐶💕

We are looking for a transport volunteer who is willing to help Dolly make her journey to her rescue tomorrow. Every mile gets her one step closer to safety, comfort, and the loving place she deserves to have her babies. 🥹❤️

Update: RESCUE PENDING
💔🐾 DUMPED, NEGLECTED & COVERED IN MATS 🐾💔

We honestly don’t know how this poor dog made it this far.

This dog was dumped inside a crate at someone’s mailbox and left to fend for itself. When found, the dog was covered in an unimaginable amount of severely matted hair — so much that it is suspected the mats may account for nearly half of this dog’s actual body weight.

The neglect is heartbreaking. The mats are so severe that this poor dog can barely see. 💔

And yet… despite everything this dog has endured, there is not a mean bone in their body. This sweet soul is friendly and trusting, even after being abandoned and neglected so terribly.

We have provided the basic medical care we are able to provide here at the shelter, but this dog needs specialized care beyond what we can offer. The grooming alone will be a major undertaking, and once those mats are removed, there may be additional medical needs waiting underneath.

This dog didn't deserve to be abandoned in a crate.
Didn't deserve to live covered in painful mats.
Didn't deserve to be left unable to see.

But this dog deserves a second chance. ❤️

🐾💔 URGENT: MOMMA CAT & HER BABIES NEED A RESCUE! 💔🐾

This sweet mama and her adorable babies came into the shelter as strays, and they are still nursing and completely dependent on their mom. 🥺🐱

The shelter environment is no place for a nursing mama and her tiny babies. They desperately need somewhere quiet, calm, and safe where Momma can care for her babies without the stress and noise of the shelter.

Just look at these precious faces! ❤️ They are absolutely adorable, and they deserve the chance to grow up somewhere warm and loving.

They are currently on a 5-day stray hold, but we need to start looking for a safe landing spot NOW. Once their hold is up, they will need a rescue or foster willing to step forward and help this little family.

🙏 Are there any rescues that can help Momma and her babies? They need us to be their voice!

The shelter can be a loud and overwhelming place for little ones like these. They should be growing, playing, and learning what it feels like to be safe—not sitting in a kennel wondering what comes next. 💔

💔 URGENT RESCUE NEEDED FOR PREGNANT MOMMA DOLLY 💔

Dolly, a sweet female dog, had her world turned upside down when she suddenly had to come into the shelter after being left behind when her owner was incarcerated. She was later surrendered to the shelter, and now she is facing an uncertain future—while carrying unborn puppies. 🐾

She needs an immediate rescue willing to give her the safe, quiet place she desperately needs to prepare for the arrival of her babies. This momma deserves the chance to bring her puppies into the world somewhere warm, safe, and loving—not in a shelter kennel.

Dolly's life has changed in an instant, but we hope her next chapter can be one filled with hope. ❤️‍🩹
