🇺🇸🐾 Honoring Our Heroes 🐾🇺🇸

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We owe a debt of gratitude to these selfless heroes who have fought and continue to fight for our country's values.

At Vet4HealthyPet, we are reminded of the incredible bond that exists between humans and animals. Many of our beloved pets have also served alongside our military heroes, providing comfort, companionship, and even lifesaving support. Today, we pay tribute not only to our fallen soldiers but also to the courageous military working dogs and other animal heroes who have served by their side.

Let us not forget the sacrifices made by these extraordinary animals. From search and rescue dogs to therapy animals, their dedication and loyalty have touched countless lives. They have stood by our side, offering unwavering support and unconditional love.

As we enjoy this day with our loved ones, let's also take a moment to appreciate the sacrifices of military personnel, past and present, and the animals who have stood by their side. Together, they have protected our freedoms and made our world a safer place.

Today, we encourage you to honor the memory of our fallen heroes and the animals who have served by supporting organizations that provide care and assistance to military working dogs and veterans. Let's extend our gratitude beyond this day and make a positive difference in their lives.

To all those who have served, both human and animal alike, we salute you. Your bravery, sacrifice, and dedication will forever be remembered and cherished. 🙏🐾

Happy 4th of July from our family to yours!
We wanted to share a few tips to minimize your dog’s anxiety tonight.

Create a safe haven for your dog
Keep your dog inside and make a safe place for him. Remove all objects from the room that could cause harm – some dogs are destructive when frightened.

Calm your dog with aromatherapy
There are many calming sprays out there to ease your dog’s stress. If his reaction is severe, reach out to us for a prescription.

Exercise your dog
Wear your dog out. Three or four hours before the celebration, take your dog for a long walk, run, or to the dog park.

Feed him a big meal
Feed your dog a big meal an hour or two before the celebration. He’ll feel relaxed and content like you do after a big meal.

Massage his nerves away
You know how relaxing massages are for you, so try it on your dog.

Cuddle his fears away
During (if you are staying inside) and after the fireworks, it’s important to spend quality time with your dog.

Provide some distractions
Try keeping your dog’s focus away from the fireworks by cuddling or playing. You can also give him a toy like a frozen treat or a rawhide to divert his attention.

Make sure your dog has proper ID
If you do take your dog to the fireworks (which isn’t recommended) make sure he is micro-chipped and wearing an ID collar. Your dog may get scared and bolt.

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL PET HYDRATION AWARENESS MONTH!!

1️⃣ Fill the bowl everyday
Being a pet parent can be a ton of responsibility. And with the everyday juggle, essential things such as pet hydration are bound to slip out of your list of priorities. Let’s make it a habit to refill your dog’s water bowl every day, regardless of the residue. Additionally, schedule regular cleaning and maintenance of the dish so that it’s hygienic and safe.

2️⃣ Set an alarm
If consistent alarms have helped you in being consistent with daily water intake in the last couple of months, we'd suggest you try the same with your furry friends. Keep daily tabs on your pet's water intake and set reminders to replenish their supply at regular intervals of the day.

3️⃣ Check the gums
There are a lot of symptoms of dehydration, but the most apparent one manifests in the mouth. Dry and sticky gums are the most noticeable symptoms of dehydration. Canines, felines, and almost all other pets are constantly salivating, and only stop when they physically can’t.

What plans do you have for your pup this summer?

Happy July!!

We are officially into mid-Summer and I’m sure your precious animals are feeling the heat.

July is National Pet Hydration Awareness Month, so let’s chat about the importance of keeping your pets hydrated.

While humans have resorted to hourly reminders to keep up with their hydration needs throughout the day, our pets rely on us to keep a full bowl and a hydrated body. The blazing sun of July requires us to amp up the hydration of ourselves, and our pets. Pet dehydration can quickly take a turn for the worse. Yet, there aren’t a lot of commercials, wellness gurus, or social media stars reminding us about this.

National Pet Hydration Awareness Month propagates the importance of hydration and lets pet parents know about the early warning signs of dehydration, which include loss of appetite, lethargy, loss of skin elasticity, etc.

Ideally, a dog needs an ounce of water for every pound it weighs. For example, a 16-pound dog would require 16 ounces of water a day.

We are going to be sharing some tips over the next couple of days, so keep coming back for more!

Say hi to DUKE!!
He came to visit us for his regular check up and we just had to share some information about him and his awesome eyes!

Huskies can not only have one blue and one brown eye, but actually two different colors in the same eye as well! This is also common in merle Border Collies and Australian Shepherds. Eyes with two colors are called parti-colored eyes and are more rare than all-blue eyes.

IMPORTANT:
Because about 10% of Huskies have the genetic tendency to develop cataracts, you should schedule annual eye exams for your Husky. A veterinarian can check that all is well with your pup’s beautiful eyes. If a condition is found early, it will also be much easier to address!

Have you scheduled your husky’s eye exam recently?

The summer forecast at the ASPCA is cats, cats and more cats!
June not only kicks off Adopt a Shelter Cat Month—it also marks the height of kitten season, which is the time of year when we see an increase in feline breeding.

If you’re looking to make a difference for cats during this critical time of year, here are some ways you can get involved:

1. Adopt. Kitten season creates a tremendous population explosion, and animal shelters around the country will soon be flooded with cats in need of a home. You can make a major difference this season by adopting a new feline friend.

2. Come To Their Rescue. If you happen to see any kittens or maybe a feral cat is in your neighborhood, try to help! You can contact us or contact your local no-kill shelter.

3. Donate to a shelter. Kitten season is one of the most dangerous times of year for homeless cats and kittens. During this season, resources like food, money and space are stretched to the brink. Reach out to or contact your local no-kill shelter to donate.

In honor of National Foster a Pet Month…

5 Reasons you should consider fostering a pet

1. Foster Pets Learn They're Loved - Watching a dog that has been in a shelter environment, or hurt, or abused or all of the above enter your home is a magical, beautiful thing.
2. You're Saving Lives - Every animal who goes into a foster home brings down the number of shelter pets euthanized each year.
3. Fostering Can Help You Heal - a recent foster parent said "Heath brought so much joy into my life while he was here, and personally seeing him off to his new mom completely redefined my understanding of love and purpose. To call the experience profound would cheapen it; Heefy showed me my best self, and mended my broken heart in the process."
4. Goodbye Is A Happy Ending - Don't be put off fostering because you think it'll be too hard when your sweetie gets adopted.
5. You'll Make New Friends - You can stay in touch with the family who adopted your foster!!

Have you ever fostered or thought about fostering?
